We will be making a list of words that you are having trouble with and try to study them before the test on Tuesday.

Each day, there will be a warm-up on the board. These warm-ups require your full attention and should be done quietly, unless otherwise instructed by the teacher. Keep all your warm-ups, with dates written on them and in order by date, in a specified location in your binder. Each week, warm-ups will be collected as follows: Monday: 1st period Tuesday: 2nd period Wednesday: 4th period Thursday: 5th period Friday: 6th period

If you miss a warm-up exercise due to an excused absence, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to see me immediately upon your return or find the warm-up on my website. You have one day to make up and turn in a missed warm-up. If you come more than one day after your return from an absence, you may not possibly be permitted to make-up the warm-up work.

You will bring a silent reading book of your choice to class every Thursday

Silent reading will be required for the first ten minutes of class on select Thursdays.

Points will be given for on-task silent reading. You will forfeit your silent reading points if: 1)

you fail to have a book or fail to begin reading as soon as the bell rings, or 2) you are off-task during silent reading. You will keep a daily log of the book(s) that you read

each semester. You will select a book from your log from which you

will write an in-class book report each semester. Only books that are documented on reading log will be

accepted for book reports.

In groups of 3-4, I will allow you to discuss words that you are struggling with. You should use this time to swap definitions and thoughts about the words that you are struggling with the most.

To help you prepare for the test, I will give you my definitions and explanations for some of the tone words that you are struggling with. So…

1.) I need 4 volunteers to help me write the definitions for these tone words on the board.

2.) I will take the first “troublesome word” that is decided upon for each group; this is your chance to get help, so USE IT!

3.) As they are written on the board, revise your definitions.
