Government

• An organization set up to make and enforce rules for a group of people.

• It enforces rules, provides services, and in most cases protects the rights of citizens.

Representative Government/ Parliamentary Gov./ Democracy

• Citizens vote for people to represent their views.

• The Reps. Then go on to make laws.• If the people get tired of the old

representatives, they can vote for new ones.

Monarchy

• Government headed by a ruling family.

• The people don’t get any power

• System set up to control land and resources

Theocracy

• A religious leader or organization leads the country

• People have little to no rights, but they don’t need them because the country is doing what God wants

Oligarchy• Small group of

people who control the government.

• These people are usually very wealthy or have control of the military

• Everyone is equal.
