Warehouse Number / Storage Type

Definition

With this object you can limit access to warehouse numbers and storage

types in the Warehouse Management (WM) system.

An authorization check with this object can only refer to the warehouse

number or the warehouse number together with the storage type.

THe warehouse number authorization of a user is checked in all relevant

transactions and also in the Reporting functions of the WM system.

The storage type authorization is always activated with the movement

type authorization if the storage type addressed in the transfer order

is different from the entries in the movement type table in the WM

Defined fields

o LGNUM Warehouse number

o LGTYP Storage type

o Example:

The following values have been defined in the authorization object

L_LGNUM:

o Warehouse number '001' + '003'

o Storage type '021'

With these entries the user is authorized to work with warehouse numbers

'001', '003' and storage type '021'. The storage type is checked only

when a transfer order is created (in connection with the movement type

authorization check). Otherwise the storage type is not checked (for

example, when a storage bin is created).

Application

Warehouse Management

In the menu option "Authorizations", you set the default values for the

authorizations in the Warehouse Management system (WM).

The authorization concept of Warehouse Management guarantees smooth and

problem-free organization of warehouse logistics. The following

authorization objects are included in the authorization check in WM:

o Warehouse number / storage type

WM Authorizations

o Special functions in WM

Note

The following table illustrates how these objects are integrated into

the functional process of the WM transactions.

Standard Settings

In the standard SAP R/3 System, authorizations are provided for all

authorization objects in the application.

You will find both maintenance authorizations and display authorizations

for authorization objects.

The standard authorizations apply to all organization units.

Activities

1. Check whether the authorizations that come with the standard SAP R/3

System cover your needs.

Proceed as follows:

a) Choose the object class of the application.

A list of the authorization objects in this class is now

displayed.

b) Choose an object.

A list of the authorizations for this object is now displayed.

2. If necessary, create new authorizations to meet your requirements.

Proceed as follows:

a) Choose Authorization -> Create.

b) Enter the authorization and a short text.

c) Maintain the values of each field one by one.

d) Save your entries.

e) Activate the new authorization.

Note

The profile generator lets you create authorizations and profiles.

This function makes it much easier for you to customize your

authorizations. You should use this function if you are working in a new

installation.

The individual configuration steps for the profile generator are

described in Customizing under Basis Components - System Administration

- Users and Authorizations - Maintain authorizations and profiles using

profile generator.

Default settings

The standard SAP R/3 System contains the necessary authorizations for

every function.

Actions

1. Check the standard authorizations.

2. Create new authorizations if necessary.

3. Select the object class "Materials Management - Warehouse

Create Profiles

Profiles contain authorization objects for defined task areas.

Default settings

In der SAP standard version, the required profile "L_WM_ALL" with all

the required authorizations is preset for the component Warehouse

Management as follows:

o L_BWLVS Movement types in the WM system

profiles for the users in the Warehouse Management system.

Via this object, the system checks the authorization for working with a

movement type of the Warehouse Management (WM) system.

The movement type authorization check is executed when a transfer order

is being created.

Defined fields

o LGNUM Warehouse number

o BWLVS Movement type WM

Example:

In the authorization object "Movement Type in the Warehouse Management

System" (technical title "L_BWLVS"), the following values are defined:

o Warehouse number 001

o Movement type 101 + 102

With these entries, the user has the authorization for movement types

101 and 102 ( = goods receipts for purchase orders) in warehouse number

001.

Definition

Via this object it is possible to protect functions in Warehouse

Management.

Currently, the following functions are protected or for limited use:

1. Call up TO processing immediately (WM/PP interface)

2. Execute repair programs

The following value was defined in L_SFUNC:

With this entry the user has authorization to call up TO creation

directly. This authorization is only required for WM material staging

for the WM/PP interface.

Application

Transaction Codes in the Warehouse Management System

Definition

Using this object, you can limit access to certain Warehouse Management

transactions.

All transactions in the WM system begin with the letter L. If you want

to implement Hazardous Material Management in MM-WM, you must also

include the transactions VM01 through VM03 in your authorization

concept. The authorization for transaction VM04 is required only in

connection with the takeover of hazardous material data from the

WM Authorizations

substance database and should not be assigned for usage.

You can have a list of all transaction codes displayed by selecting the

following menu options:

Tools -> Case -> Development -> Transactions.

Using the function "Find" (search type "Authorization object" and search

string "L_TCODE"), you can list the WM transactions.

Example:

In the authorization object L_TCODE, the following values are defined:

o Transaction LT* + LB*

With these entries, the user has authorizations for transactions that

start with the letter combinations LT (transfer order handling) and LB

(transfer requirement handling).
