Total population based on the STATSSA census 2011 in ward 21 is 29 939 i.e. 4 percent of the total population in Region 1. The figure above indicates the total population in ward 21 disaggregated by racial groups. It can be noted from the figure that approximately 98,8 percent of the population in the ward are Black Africans, the White, Coloured, Asian and Indian population consume approximately 1,2 percent of the population in the ward.

Population in the ward 21 has relatively high schooling levels that meet and/or exceed the functional literacy levels (i.e. completed primary education) i.e. approximately 78,7 percent of the population in ward 21 are functionally literate. As indicated in the figure, only 3,5 percent of the population in ward 21 have no schooling, 17,4 percent have some primary, 3,8 percent have completed primary, 32,1 percent have some secondary, 27,5 percent have matric and 15,3 percent have post matric qualifications.
