The SAFE Agent scheme, which already has 1,100 members throughout the UK – including Belvoir Wirral – is designed to highlight agents which protect their clients, through money protection schemes. All member companies are awarded the SAFE (Safe Agent Fully Endorsed) mark, which has been welcomed by the Trading Standards Institute as an easily identifiable kite-mark related to financial protection. Belvoir Wirral owner Steve Molloy said: “Finances are obviously hugely important to both landlords and tenants. They’ll now be able to look out for the SAFE Agent kite-mark and feel secure in the knowledge that letting agents who’ve been awarded the mark will guard their money through client protection schemes.” SAFE Agent has the full support of the National Approved Lettings Scheme (NALS), and since its launch has received backing from a number of high profile firms and consumer groups. Belvoir Lettings managing director Dorian Gonsalves is among a group of industry experts who advocated the scheme from the start. Michael Farrelly, 25, a scienceteacher in Birkenhead has recentlypurchased a new three bedroomhome at Fountain Court, Tranmere,with fiancée Lindsey Critchley, 25, ateaching assistant. Fountain Court isparticularly special to the couple asMichael proposed to Lindsey uponmoving in to their new home.

The couple’s dream of being able tobuy their own house was only realisedafter they attended a first time buyer’sweekend at Fountain Court. Prior tomoving into their new home together,the couple had lived in a rentedproperty close by, and it was onlyafter visiting the show home that theyreally believed buying a house was aviable option.

Lindsey says: “A friend of ours hadrecommended that we view the showhome at Fountain Court but I didn’tthink we would be able to afford it.Michael eventually persuaded me togo, explaining that we had nothing tolose, and he was right. The help of afinancial advisor was invaluable to usas we were able to understand ouroptions and what was available to us.

“I absolutely love living here and ournew home has so many great featuresit was an easy decision to buy theproperty. When we moved in everythingwas brand new and we got to choosethe furnishings ourselves, which helpedus put our individual twist on things.Having an en-suite bathroom is also abonus as Michael and I can get readyat the same time!”
