Wall Ovens are becoming more smart with Wi-Fi and smart phone connectivity. Now, you can control your oven with your phone. It can also diagnose problems, it can also walk you through cooking like a professional chef.
Jenn-Air now has the first voice activated wall ovens. You can tell your wall oven what you want through your Google device. Pretty soon, your wall oven will scan your refrigerator for ingredients and set the dishwasher to the proper cycle based on your lasagna command. This is the future of cooking.

French door wall ovens are becoming more popular. They satisfy ADA requirements and you also don't have to lift heavy food over the oven door.
Viking, American Range, and BlueStar manufacture French door wall ovens. The look is also interesting and cool.

Double wall ovens are two equal sized ovens. The big advantage is one centralized cooking area.
However, any other cooking product cooking products like a microwave or steam oven have to be placed elsewhere (you could put a warming drawer underneath).
Double wall ovens will have 2-3 feature packages. There could be a $1,000-$4,000 difference for upgraded features like Wi-Fi, steam and automatic cooking controls.
Three options for a double wall oven:1. Double convection with their best controls2. Single convection over a regular oven3. Basic double oven with standard controls

Single ovens are also available in a number of features, options and prices.
Single ovens are great to place under a cooktop because they can eliminate the seams in cabinetry and allow the toekick to run continuously throughout the kitchen.
You may want to customize your cooking by adding a speed or steam oven over your main wall oven.

Wall ovens offer less stooping than conventional ranges and allow for two full-size ovens in one space.
Additionally, the placement of a single wall oven under a counter is better looking than a regular range as there are no seams in the countertop and the toe kick can be run continuously throughout the kitchen. Over the last few years much better controls have been added to wall ovens.

Wall ovens are manufactured to fit inside standard cabinet sizes of 24”, 27”, 30” and 36” with 30” being the most common.
A 30” wall oven actually refers to the cabinet, not the actual size of the oven, which can typically be 28.5” to 29.5” wide.
You want to be careful when replacing a wall oven because the dimensions will almost always differ.

There are far more electric choices than gas. However, gas is a moister heat and better for roasting whereas electric is drier and more precise for better baking. Many gas ovens are 24 inches and retrofit older installations.

There are two different technologies for speed ovens. Mieleand Jenn-Air use a microwave to assist a convection cycle. This speeds up the cooking process considerably with good texture and taste from the convection.
GE uses its own technology in their Advantium oven by employing halogen light bulbs.

Warming drawers are offered by every manufacturer and can be used to warm food for up to three hours.
Measurements are 27”, 30” and 36” wide. Warming drawers are a great option for working families who cook and eat at separate times.

Convection employs a fan in the rear of the oven and results in more even temperatures.
In 2001, Wolf designed a twin convection system for even more consistency. Many manufacturers now produce an oven with the twin convection system.
In 2015, Wolf redesigned their system again with high speed blowers instead of fans.

The future of wall oven controls comes from Dacor, Jenn-Air and Miele.
Dacor has an Android-based system which will message you at the end of a cooking cycle.
Miele has the M Series MasterChef which can cook most foods by the touch of a button and added steam assist to bake 16 different types of bread.

One-piece microwave units like KitchenAid, Thermador and Jenn-Air look better and are easier to install.
You can also buy a microwave and trim as well. It is typically cheaper but not as attractive. Most manufacturers will now produce a matching speed oven so it looks better over a wall oven.

Steam is the healthiest way to cook and it’s not just for veggies.
Steam introduces moisture and won’t bake away the nutrients in your food like regular ovens.
Currently, there are 5 manufacturers offering steam ovens: Thermador, Wolf, Gaggenau, Jenn-Air and Miele.

Wolf pioneered twin convection cooking for more consistent baking. In 2015, they have recently innovated the new VertiCrossconvection system where air is spread horizontally and vertically. Wolf Gourmet controls can cook any food automatically by the touch of a button.
Wolf has two different ovens. The M series has the advanced convection and automatic settings. The E series is less expensiveand has twin convection.

Family-owned for over 100 years, Miele outsources almost nothing in their production, including controls.
Their MasterChef controls can cook almost any food perfectly by just inputting the type of food and weight.
Their quality manufacturing accounts for the lowest repair rate in the industry at 5.5% in the first year.
In 2015, they added Steam Assist and modes to cook 16 different types of bread.

Miele

The new Jenn-Air has been revitalized to the tune of $300 million by parent Whirlpool and offers the most fully functional controls in the industry.
Like the MasterChef, Jenn-Air offers preprogrammed guides but adds pictures of what the food will look like once cooked.
In 2015, they added Wi-Fi so you can control the oven from your phone.
Jenn-Air has a compelling rebate program with free dishwashers and other rebates with qualifying purchases.

Thermador offers two different styles: The contemporary M Series and the more traditional, knob controlled P Series.
Thermador has a great reputation for rate of repair along with the most aggressive rebates, including free dishwashers and hoods with qualifying purchases.
Thermador is also one of the few brands that offers a rotisserie.
However, Thermador is an older unit with single convection and older styled controls.

Gaggenau is the most unique because of their Bang & Olufsencontrols.
Their wall oven has a side swing door so you won’t have to lift and reach to place food in the oven.
Gaggenau also has an impressive amount of cooking modes and incredible reliability at just 2.9% serviced in the first year.
“Gaggenau has become relevant again with really modern styling, great warranty of up to 7 years and cool features like
handle less doors” – Click below for more

Viking has fallen out of favor the last few years due to quality concerns. New owner Middleby has placed manufacturing competence as a first priority.
They are available in a variety of custom colors and have a 3-year warranty.
Always check the service ratings before buying any Viking Product.

For a company known for dishwashers, they also market a surprisingly good wall oven with excellent controls for less money than Jenn-Air and Miele.
“I like this option because you buy exactly what you need and open your kitchen to different possibilities than just
two ovens. For example, speed ovens combine microwave and convection for faster cooking” – Click below for more

This wall oven is a great piece of technology. It can be operated completely from your phone via app. You can change temperature as well as turn on and off.
The oven can also message you at the end of a cooking cycle. You can access the internet, watch videos or play Pandora radio right on the oven with the Android tablet controls.
“Certain wall ovens can be integrated, but most people do not install wall ovens flush like this. It’s a nice detail.” –

Bosch Benchmark is different from regular Bosch line with its more commercial appearance.
They also feature a robust LCD display and a side swing door. You won’t have to lift a heavy turkey over the door with a side swing oven.
“A wall oven/microwave combo is a good idea in smaller spaces. You keep the cooking centrally located and the microwave is not on the countertop. The Bosch version
installs easily, but both pieces can be serviced or replaced separately down the road” – Click below for more
