Many of us know the reality of cancer all too well.
•Cancer will affect two out of five people.•Breast cancer will strike about one in eight women.•In the U.S., men have about a one in two chance of
developing cancer; for women the risk is about one in three.
•Only heart disease causes more deaths than cancer.
Together, we can make a difference.
1. Donate! Be the first to donate on your page. Include your personal donation when you register. Remember, registration fees aren’t donations.
2. Ask! Who should you ask to donate to the Walks for Cancer? Everyone! You’ll be amazed how easy it is and how quickly the dollars add up. Donations can be made online on your personal web page or you may use the collection envelope you’ll receive after you register.
3. Match! Ask your employer for a matching gift. Many companies have matching gift programs, and this is a quick way to double your donation.
4. Receive! Prizes are available when you raise $100, $250, $500 or $1,000 in pledges. To view the prizes, visit ProHealthCare.org/WalksforCancer.
We are making strides against cancer, right here at home, in Waukesha County. The funds raised from the Walks for Cancer have:
•Expanded the reach of 3D mammography – this advanced imaging technology helps to detect up to 40 percent more cancers than conventional mammography.
•Enabled almost 200 patients to enroll in clinical trials each year.
•Provided funding for a dedicated oncology dietitian; the expansion of the nurse navigator program to ensure every cancer patient has a dedicated partner for their journey; the development of a survivorship program that begins at the time of diagnosis.
Save the Date – Community Open HouseSaturday, July 18, 2015
The new ProHealth Cancer Center is designed from the patient’s perspective. All of the services — from diagnosis through treatment and survivorship — will have the same goal: helping patients and their families enhance and optimize their quality of life after a cancer diagnosis. The Cancer Center is under construction in Pewaukee, just north of I-94 on Highway 164.
