As a part of the World Water Day declared by the United Nations General Assembly
World Water Day – March 22nd In 1993, United Nations General Assembly declared March 22nd as the World Water Day to address the global water crisis. NGO’s across the globe promoting clean & safe water have used World Water Day as a time to focus public attention on the critical water issues of our era.
The World Walks for Water & Sanitation
The World Walks for Water and Sanitation is a global event demanding action to address the world's largest crisis - water and sanitation.
From 17-25 March 2012, thousands of people across the globe will walk together to demand political change.
Because of these global actions, governments are beginning to take notice, promises have been made, and there has been progress internationally and in many countries.

On March 19th as a part of the World Walks for Water, FORCE in association with partner organizations, organized the ‘Walk for Water – 2011’ at Rajpath – one of the strongest symbol of democracy.

Walk for Water – 2011 Key Points of ‘Walk for Water – 2011’ More than 2000 people walked on Rajpath to
support the cause. Reputed civil society organizations & government
partners were stakeholders of the event. Honble. Minister of Water Resources – Sh
Salmaan Khursheed was the chief guest. Mr Ban-Ki-Moon current Secretary General of the
United Nations, addressed the participants via Ms Kerpelman Director, UNIC.
As water becomes an increasingly scarce commodity, it is important to raise the carrion call for ‘water for all’. This world water day 2012 through the ‘Walk for Water – for All’ program we aim to create advocacy from all sectors of society for ‘water for all’.

Delhi, the unique Dilli Haat is an upgraded version of the traditional weekly market, offering a delightful amalgam of craft, food and cultural activities.

Venue for Walk for Water for All
Program Logistics Walk for Water for All -17 – 18th March at Dilli Haat
from 5 PM to 9 PM. Separate Section of Dilli Haat will be devoted &
customized for the program. Limited banners, backdrops, entry stalls will demarcate the section.
On 19th March special provision to repeat the program activities at the UN complex Lawns, Lodhi Road.
Several fun-filled activities to engage the crowd & spread the message of Water for All.
Program Activities Competitions for NGO’s / community groups on Water theme
based acts/performances will be planned for the program. Music shows, Classical & Contemporary Dance,
Choreographed Dance depicting Water Scarcity/Conservation etc will be attractive feature of the program.
Film Screenings on Water Conservation/ Activism will be screened at the venue. FORCE will call for participation/request to all NGO’s/groups to share documentaries etc on Water related themes for the program.
Several on ground crowd engagement activities will be organized at the venue, such as: calculating water footprint, water profile, water for all – Ramp walk.
Call for ParticipationEntries for the program will be screened by FORCE
committee. Depending on the theme & performance select no. of acts will be short-listed
for the program.
Call for Participation to share movies/documentaries on Water & related topics. Movies will be reviewed by the program committee, only select movies will be screened at the Venue.
Call for Participation for ‘Creative Expressions on ‘Water for All’.
Profile of Participants Weekend Dilli Haat Crowd: comprising of
residents, shoppers, tourists, students etc. FORCE will be connecting with its network of
250 resident welfare associations of Delhi to participate for the program.
Reputed NGO’s & urban poor community members from their respective areas of intervention.
Representatives from Govt. partners. NSS Student groups from various colleges
across Delhi, Viz: IIT, JNU, SRCC, Gargi etc.
Walk for Water – 2011 partners will be re-aligning for the cause again this year!

Achievements were also highlighted in government magazines & distribution materials viz, Varun Patrika etc.
Updates were shared with all welfare associations of Delhi listed with the Bhagidari Network, Delhi Government.
Based on availability a formal agreement with leading Media corporation will be signed. This will include coverage of up-to 100-150 words in leading English newspaper, 300-350 words in leading Hindi newspaper, 15 spots for 15 seconds in leading FM channels.
Event Pre-Post Publicity Newspaper inserts in areas surrounding
the venue to mobilize people. Advertisements about the event in local
Cable TV channels. Sharing news with leading FM channels to
air small snippets about the event. RWA activation: FORCE will reach out to its
spread of 250 RWA’s across Delhi. Request Bhagidari network as partner organization to share updates with all registered RWA’s across Delhi
