for new and existing

entrepreneurs!

entrepreneurship.waketech.edu

Wake Tech partnered with Wells Fargo to create the Center for Entrepreneurship—to help entrepreneurs get the training and support they need to make their ideas take shape, and to foster local enterprise and economic growth.

The Center’s mission is to transform economic and workforce growth in our community by facilitating the establishment, growth, and success of new and existing small businesses and entrepreneurs. We strive to awaken the entrepreneurial mindset in everyone, to produce an energized and creative workforce that will boost economic development throughout our community.

Courses and Programs:Planning the Entrepreneurial Venture (PEV)Develop a complete business plan for starting and running your new or existing business. Work at your own pace in this blended learning course of online content and classroom meetings as you assess your ability as an entrepreneur; evaluate the feasibility of your business venture; and research, develop, and write a comprehensive plan for your small business. The online course content is available to students for a full six months.

Build Your Business: Step by StepAn alternative to the popular PEV class, this course offers a practical step-by-step approach to starting a business. It includes assessment of personal skills and abilities, alignment of personal goals to business goals, well-defined steps for business start-up, writing a business plan, and understanding and monitoring cash flow. Software is available to facilitate preparation of the business plan.

Sales for People Who Need CustomersThis course covers basic sales techniques, from the initial introduction stage through closing the business and building relationships, using role-plays and other adult learning techniques to facilitate the learning process.

Using Social Media to Supercharge Your BusinessSocial media is a perfect tool for small business owners and entrepreneurs, who usually have little discretionary cash for promoting their businesses in the early days. This course will provide participants with basic knowledge about a variety of social media tools and how to use them most effectively.

Scholarship funds are available:Thanks to support from Wells Fargo, we can offer need-based, full and partial scholarships for all Center for Entrepreneurship classes.

Did You Know?

Frequently Asked QuestionsI want to sign up for a class, but it is not listed in the online schedule. How do I register for it?

If you don’t see a specific class section in the online schedule, that is because the class is not accepting registrations at this time. The class may be full, or may not be offered at this time. Contact us for more information about the class, and when it may be offered again in the future.

I didn’t receive a confirmation email when I registered for a class. How do I update my contact information?

It is the student’s responsibility to update any changes to contact information (email, home address). Student information is not automatically updated when a new course registration is received. To make changes to your student record, you must complete a Student Permanent Records Change Form, which can be downloaded from our website. The forms should be signed and then sent to the CE Registrar’s Office.

I am paying for someone else to take a class. What do I need to do?

If you are paying for someone else, such as an employer paying on behalf of an employee, you will want to use Sponsorship Billing. Sponsorship Billing ensures refunds, if necessary, are issued to the payer rather than the student. (Please note that online registration is not currently available for Sponsorship Billing.) If you are interested in setting up a sponsorship, please contact the CE Registrar’s Office at 919-335-1044. If not, you may continue with online registration and any refund will be issued directly to the student.

When can I register?

Registration for Continuing Education classes is ongoing throughout the year. If a class appears in the online schedule, that means space is still available and the class is open for registration. Registrations are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to the minimum number of students necessary for classes to be held, we encourage you to sign up at least one week before the class starts. Enrollments after the start date of the class are not eligible for a full refund.

I have an idea for a new class!
