WAHL CLIPPER BLADES DESCRIPTION

Choose the right blade for your clipper to get the best performance. Please find below a detailed description of various blade types and sets.

1006-400 KM1854-7505 KM1884-7040 2191 2105 2161-400 2228-400Blade Set # 1006-400Cutting Depth 1-3.5mm

This 2 hole screw on blade set is used on most professional clippers with a taper arm. It offers good all round barbering.

However the pointed V shape teeth on the top blade are not good for zero overlap cutting.

When this blade set is used on the cordless super taper it is secured with T20 Torx screws. Blades can be sharpened.

KM1854 Quick Release Blade SetAdjustment of 0.7 - 3mm These blade are designed to clip on and have an adjuster lever built in giving an adjustment of 0.7 - 3mm.

The top blade is stainless steel and the bottom is chrome plated.

The KM1854 has the spring exposed, pressing on the cam follower allows the blade to open up to make cleaning easy. These blades are classed as disposable and cannot be sharpened.

The KM1884-7040 has the same functionality as the KM1854-7505 but with the added benefit of a more enclosed back. This prevents the hair from becoming clogged as regularly, reducing the amount of cleaning required making it more user friendly.

The KM1884 has the spring covered, pressing on the cam follower on both types allows the blade to open up to make cleaning easy. These blades are classed as disposable and cannot be sharpened.

Blade Set # 2191Cutting Depth 1-3.5mm

The bottom blade of this blade set has a thinner edge than that used on the 1006-400 blade set and has a flat face.

It is often zero gapped by Afro Barbers so it can cut as close as 0.6mm. The top blade is the V tooth 1052-450 plated blade so caution is advised when zero gapping. Blades can be sharpened.

The bottom blade of this blade set has a thinner edge and finer teeth than the 1006-400 it also has a flat face.

The top blade has a bow top so that it can be set to zero overlap, it is used on balding clippers (Balding clippers do not have a taper arm).

COMMON CLIPPER PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS

PROBLEM: My clipper is making more noise than it used to.

Solution: Clean and oil the blades, then adjust the voltage screw (located on the opposite side to the switch) turn this anti-clockwise until the noise subsides and returns to normal.

PROBLEM: My clipper keeps cutting out.

Solution: Check the lead for any fractures, these can happen through general wear and tear. If there is a fracture then the lead can be replaced by contacting Wahl.

PROBLEM: My clipper is pulling the hair.

Solution: This happens when the blades are not aligned correctly. Directions on how to realign blades are in your instruction booklet.

This is also a sign that the blades may need replacing/sharpening. If the problem persists please visit our website, www.wahl.co.uk for information on blade sharpening.

PROBLEM: My clipper is nipping the skin.

Solution: This could be because the blades need to be realigned or it may be that the blade is damaged. If the clipper has been dropped the teeth in the blades could be broken and if this is the case the blade will need to be replaced.

PROBLEM: The snap on/off blade keeps falling off.

Solution: This is normally because of broken lug(s) on the blade chassis, the blade will need to be replaced.
