CERTIFICATES K-6 TRANSITION
Yesterday we started our 2016/2017 transition program for all students in Kindergarten to
Year 5. Students were placed into groups based on their academic year for 2017. Each
afternoon this week, students will rotate around teachers with different cohorts of
students.
Please note that the groups are not final classes for 2017, nor are the teachers they may
visit representative of the teacher they may have. We run this program to provide students
with the opportunity to experience being amongst different peers, to visit different rooms
within the school and to enjoy spending time with different teachers.
The overall aim of these afternoons is to demystify the new year and to help our students to
feel comfortable with the changes that will occur. Hopefully by experiencing a range of
teachers and classrooms they will feel more confident and relaxed about the start of a new
and exciting year in 2017. If your child does experience any distress or concerns during this
time, please discuss these with their class teacher.
END OF YEAR REPORTS
End of year reports will be going home by the beginning of next week. We hope you take
the time to share your child’s successes with them and to celebrate their many
achievements.
CAROLS IN THE COLA
By now, you would have received a number of notes about our exciting end of year get
together—Carols in the COLA. This event is alcohol free and an opportunity for our school
community to come together to celebrate the festive season and the year that was. In this
newsletter is a pre-order form for you to complete and pay. Tickets will be available up
until the evening of the 9th by paying online or in cash/cheque through the
school. (Candles and books will be distributed on the night. )
Every class have been preparing a Christmas song to sing for you and we
have special performances by Cathy Wright, Murrumbidgee Magic and
some surprises still to be confirmed. If your child will not be in
attendance, please let their classroom teacher know.
Santa will be here in his big red chair for you to take your Christmas
photos. There is no charge for this, just bring your camera and your
smiles.
The P&C will be catering on the night, so need to worry about dinner. There will be a
number of options to satisfy the whole family.
So bring your chair, beanbag or blanket, your best singing voices and your holiday
cheer to share an evening with friends and family on the 9th December from
6.30pm.
A REMINDER TO ALL YEAR 6 STUDENTS AND PARENTS
At Wagga Wagga Public School we do not write or get signatures on shirts
or any items of clothing. If you want your friends’ signatures and
messages, an autograph book or signature bear is the way to go.
Thank you.

Did you know that Wagga Wagga
Public School is a proud member of
the Wagga Wagga Community of
Public Schools (WWCOPS)?
This network of schools includes
most of the Primary and Secondary
schools in Wagga Wagga and the
smaller schools affiliated with
Wagga.
It was established in 2015 to
provide greater opportunities for
inter-school collegiality, support
and professional growth. Each
term, representatives from schools
meet to discuss initiatives to
promote and strengthen Public
Education across our schools.
To date, we have established many
opportunities for our staff to work
together on Professional Learning
and networking. By sharing
learning, resources and ideas, we
are, in turn, providing improved
opportunities for our most valuable
assets—our students.
WWCOPS has as its banner
statement:
Diverse in Culture—
United in Learning
and has a graphic representation of
the silver banksia as its emblem.
The silver banksia is the floral
emblem of Wagga Wagga and the
flower spikes coming out from the
central spike represent the many
Public Schools in Wagga working
together to achieve the strategic
directions of NSW Public Education.
To the many parents and friends for your many and varied contributions to our wonderful
school. No matter how big or small, whether in the classroom or out, we appreciate all you
do to support us in providing such a range of positive and rewarding learning and extra-
curricular activities for our children.
To our dedicated and enthusiastic staff, congratulations on another terrific year. There are so
many amazing memories and highlights for 2016 and behind everyone of them is a staff
member organising, training, planning, creating etc. You are a terrific team of
professionals who put so much into what you do. Well done.
And finally, to our beautiful, talented and unique students, thank you for giving your energy,
excitement and commitment into everything you do. It is quite remarkable how much
each and every one of you has learnt and grown throughout the year and you should be
very proud of your achievements and successes. You have continued to uphold Wagga
Wagga Public’s excellent reputation within the community and we are very proud of you.
Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a very happy, safe and relaxing holiday period.
Please stay safe in the sun and on the roads and return to us for another great year in 2017
Kindest regards
Leanne

REEC Visit
Miss Nye and Ava, Jayden, Emily and Aerwyn from 4J visited the REEC yesterday. They participated in a workshop to acknowledge World Soil Day and learn about how Aboriginal people used ochre for artworks and trading.
The staff recently collected for the Share the Dignity project. They filled 7 handbags with toiletries to be
given to women in need at Christmas time. #itsinthebag

2-3N have reached their goal!
All year 2-3N have been collecting money for our
Grateful Jar. After much discussion we decided to
buy a swag for a homeless person from ‘Backpack
Beds for the Homeless’.
Our goal was to collect $100 which would buy one
backpack bed. We counted the money in the jar last
week and we have $104.90.
We will purchase the bed online this week, knowing
somebody will sleep a little more peacefully this
Christmas.
Great job 2/3N!
