6000NH Spigot Outlet - inserted in SV Ty-Seal Hub. Adjustable floor cleanout installedin typical waterproof floor slab. Adjustablehousing provides for variations in floor fill.

Cleanout Selection1. Select the type of ferrule required.2. Select the adjustable top assembly required for the type of floor and traffic conditions.

A. If the Standard Round Top is desired, specify the entire cleanout using the ferrule size and type. Example:6004NH, 1.

B. To specify any top other than Standard Round, add the letter designation of the top to the ferrule assemblyrequired. Example: A 6004IC ferrule with a Type Z top should be specified as 6004Z, IC.NOTE: Cleanouts for finished floor areas should be specified with nickel bronze tops. For unfinished floors orexterior use, specify cast iron tops.


WADEThe following excerpts from theNational Plumbing Code concerningminimum cleanout requirements arelisted for reference, but clarificationand enlargement in specifications isrecommended.

Location: Cleanouts shall be notmore than fifty feet apart inhorizontal drainage lines of fourinch nominal diameter or less, andnot more than 100 feet apart forlarger pipes.

Change of direction: Cleanoutsshall be installed at each change ofdirection of the building draingreater than 45°.

Base of stacks: A cleanout shall beprovided at or near the foot of eachvertical waste or soil stack. Forbuildings with a floor slab on fill orground, or with less than 18- inchcrawl space under the floor, thefollowing will be acceptable insteadof a cleanout at the base of thestack. The building drain may beextended to the outside of thebuilding and terminated in anaccessible cleanout, or an accessiblecleanout installed in the buildingdrain downstream from the stack notmore than five feet outside thebuilding wall.

Underground drainage: Cleanouts,when installed on an undergrounddrain, shall be extended to or abovethe finished grade level directlyabove the place where the cleanoutis installed.

Concealed piping: Cleanouts onconcealed piping shall be extendedthrough and terminate flush with thefinished wall or floor.

Size of Cleanouts

Small pipes: Cleanouts shall be ofthe same nominal size as the pipesup to four inches, and not less thanfour inches for larger piping.

Large pipes: For undergroundpiping over ten inches, manholesshall be provided and located ateach 90° change in direction, and atintervals of not more than 150 feet.

Cleanout Clearances

Small pipes: Cleanouts smaller thanthree inches shall be installed with a12-inch clearance for rodding.

Large Pipes: Cleanouts on threeinch or larger pipes shall be installedwith a clearance of not less than 18-inches for rodding.

Caulking: Cement, plaster or anyother permanent finishing materialshall not be placed over a cleanoutplug.

Concealment: Where it is necessaryto conceal a cleanout plug, acovering plate or access door shallbe provided which will permit readyaccess to the plug.

The above excerpts cover onlyminimum requirements.

Minimum Cleanout Requirements

For improved cleanout installationsthe following suggestions aresubmitted.

Unfinished floor areas: Floorcleanouts shall have a cast ironcover and be designed sufficientlystrong for the traffic expected.

Finished floor areas: Considerationshould be give to the type andpattern of the finished floor area.Round cleanout covers arerecommended for terrazzo floor andsquare covers for tile floors. Non-ferrous covers and frames of nickelbronze should be used to give thefloor area a finished appearance.

Finished walls: Cleanouts in orbehind walls should have an accesscover and frame embedded flushwith the finished wall. The covershall be smooth nickel bronze ofample size to provide a clear accessto the cleanout.

Vandalism: Access and cleanoutcover should be secured withvandal-proof screws where theseunits are accessible and apt to beremoved.
