Following the sold out first East vs West Beer-gustation Lunch held at Josie Bones for Good Beer Week in Melbourne early this year. Five Bar and Josie Bones are going head to head again in a 3 course bout for state pride - who will be the victor WA or Victoria in this culinary and craft beer showdown.

The first bout was a close contest with WA with Mitch from Beersine and Andy Mac from Five Bar taking the honours and the belt. However I’m sure Brendan O’Sullivan and the team at Josie Bones will have plenty of reason to come out swinging in this bitter rematch!

We spend our whole lives talking about beer, but we think it would be way more fun if you guys were all in the conversation too. To this end, we’re starting a little beer school called “Learn Stuff About Beer”, which we think sums it up nicely.

The first one is kicking off at Creatures Next Door on Thursday 14 November. You can expect to smell some hops, touch some malt and taste some beers, guided by one of our brewers. Don’t worry... you won’t be tested at the end or anything, but you might just walk away with some excited tastebuds and a few facts to impress your mates with. Win!

Home brewers of the Great South West... Pack up the home brew kit, load it into the car and head down to the Co-lonial Brewing Company on Friday the 15th of November for our inaugural Beer Project Car Park Brew. Kicking off about 11am. We invite you to set up your home brew system in the brewery car park and put down a brew amongst the company of others. We will also be brewing on the day so you will be able to get a first hand look at the process on a commer-cial scale. The aim is for a collection of like minded individuals to meet each other, share tips and techniques in home brewing and have a relaxing day doing what we all love to do, making beer!

Hopefully we are all done before the day-light fades so we can move into the bar and enjoy our late night supper club.

Ticket price includes a pizza and a pint in the bar at the conclusion of the day. We will supply: * Power * Water * Limited supply of hops we have floating about that you may wish to try in a brew

You will bring: * The rest! (home brew kit, any gas requirement, milled grain, yeast, fermenters etc)

Since ancient times, when the first hops bushels were steamed in giant pots of boiling water, mighty warriors have enjoyed two things - A hearty brew after a long and bloody campaign and using their enemies broken skulls in games of skill.

They would line the skulls up across a granite table and throw expensive gems to see who had the best hand eye co-ordination and decide who would receive warrior bragging rights. Many centuries later, warriors still face each other down across a table in beer pong battles harking back to the days of old.

4 Pines Brewing Company will host the inaugural WA Beer Week 4 Pines Craft Beer Pong Challenge.

Teams will be pitted against each other on the night to see which team is the ultimate Craft Beer Pong Champion. To keep the everyone pumped as they tumble in defeat or shower themselves in glory,
