Transcript of W8WEDDING
Wayne and Kate both grew up in the Rockville, Maryland area. They lived just 10 minutes apart from one another and both attended the same high School. Though they did not formally meet until college, Wayne recalls watching Kate dance at assemblies in high school. Kate remembers seeing Wayne skateboard at the local skate park. In March 2005, Wayne and Kate separately showed up at a mutual friend’s party over spring break. Kate was in the middle of catching up with a friend when Wayne walked right up to her, held out his hand and said “Hi! I’m Wayne.” They talked together until the early morning. From that night on the two were inseparable. About a year later, Kate made Wayne a scrap book story about how they had met. Secretly she hoped that one day the couple would read this story to their children. The book talks about two wishes Wayne made and wrote down during their first year of dating. He told her that he would share his wishes with her once they came true. After Kate told Wayne that she loved him for the very first time, Wayne pulled out a strip of paper from his pants pocket that read “I wish Kate would tell me she loves me.” Kate would have no idea what the second wish was for another four years... August 1, 2010, Kate woke up at 7:30am to Wayne asking her to read the book she made him years earlier out loud. She obliged, and after she was done reading, Wayne asked if she finally wanted to know what his second wish had been. Of course she had been dying to know for the past four years, but simply smiled and played along as any good girlfriend would do. He pulled out a little strip of paper from his pajama pants pocket and handed it to her. It read, “I wish Kate will say ‘yes!’ ” Kate instantly looked up at Wayne in shock. He had the ring out, which he had designed himeslf, and asked her to marry him right there in bed. Two weeks later the newly engaged couple set off on a journey together for the island of O‘ahu in Hawai’i. They have been living happily together on a rock in the middle of the Pacific ever since!
