2 Description of the Device – Features of the Vending Machine

2.1 General Description of the Device

This vending machine is used as a drink dispenser for bottles and cans. It is equipped with two prod-uct columns.

The cooling unit is very powerful and has seven cooling levels. It can be adjusted by turning the ro-tary switch. The temperature inside the vending machine can be reduced to a minimum of 2°C.

By means of the keypad, settings for price (see page 26) and change (see page 24) are made.

The vending machine can also be operated without inserting money. To do so, activate the free vendswitch.

The vending machine can be filled with products of the following dimensions.

# minimum diameter: 52 mm/ 2.0 inches

NOTE: For products with diameter between 62 mm/2.4 inches to 52 mm/2.0 inches special partitionsare necessary (see page 14). For more information please contact the factory.

3 Safety InstructionsThe vending machine is constructed according to the latest technological developments andguarantees safe functioning. Nevertheless, dangerous situations might occur for persons, material,incorrect handling or improper usage, or if you do not pay attention to the safety instructions.

WARNING! Danger of injury to hands due to mechanical components!The movable parts of the system are protected by means of covers. You are only allowed to removethese covers if the power supply to the device is disconnected. It is absolutely necessary that you in-stall the covers correctly after working on the equipment.

WARNING! Danger to life from electric shock!Unplug the power cord before you start to work on an electric component. Pay attention to the corre-sponding safety instructions if work has to be done to the device when power is connected.All the voltage-carrying components cannot be accessed directly. You have to remove covers or cas-ings. It is absolutely necessary that you install the covers correctly after working on the equipment.

Safety Instructions – ElectricityAll the circuits within the device (except for the refrigeration circuit) work with low voltage (10, 24 or26 volts). This low voltage is supplied by a transformer which converts the mains current. A fuse T3,15 A is integrated into the circuit prior to the transformer and three fuses (6.3 A, 4 A and 2 A) protectthe control card, the motors and the paying system against overload or short circuit (see page 36).

Safety Instructions – MechanicsWorking on the mechanical components requires great care. The movable parts of the ejectionmechanism are dangerous! The danger of injury to hands is considerable, and long hair or looseclothes etc. are especially dangerous during work on the device.

4 Unpacking and Installation

4.1 Unpacking and Transport

The vending machine is delivered on a pallet and packed in shrinkwrap.

1. Remove the shrinkwrap.

2. Take the vending machine off the pallet.

WARNING! Danger of injury!The vending machine has a weight of 117 kg/ 257.9 lb. Do not transport the vending machine onyour own. Use appropriate equipment or call on a second person’s help.

On the back of the vending machine you can find a handle which – like the wheels – aids moving.

Install the vending machine at a place which is freely accessible. Be sure that a mains socket isavailable. The place of installation needs to be absolutely dry.In the event you will be placing the unit on an uneven surface, 4 leg levelers are supplied in a smallbag. If for some reason, you allow the machine to lay on its side or back for more than an hour, putunit upright for 3 or 4 hours before plugging in the electricity, allowing the compressor gases to set-tle.

# Two keys for the vending machineThe keys are placed on the front of the vending machine bottle opener.

# Plastic and metal partitionsThe packed partitions are placed on the inner side of the door of the cooler. These partitions areaccessories which may be needed to convert the vending machine for the sale of another prod-uct.

# Operating instructionsPlace the operating instructions in the box on the inner side of the door of the cooler. Thus, it isavailable to all users.

# Product labelsThe product labels and price labels are placed on the inner side of the right product column. Theyare installed behind the label holders in order to indicate the type of drink and the prices of thecolumns.Each label holder is installed by means of two thumb nuts on the inner side.

# FusesFour extra fuses are placed in the same bag as the product labels for future use.

The power cord of the vending machine is on the back of the machine. Install the vending machine ina place which is freely accessible, so, the vending machine can be easily filled and cleaned.

Be sure that a mains socket is available.

The place of installation needs to be absolutely dry.

The cooling unit needs sufficient fresh air. The spaceon the sides should at least be 10 cm/ 4 inches.

ImportantRemove the foamed plastic and sheet metal whichwere placed inside the device during transport forsupport.

5.1 Connection and First Steps

Both product columns are adjusted to 2-deep vendafter delivery. If you want to use this type of salemethod for both columns follow these steps:

NOTE: If you want to use one or both productcolumns for 1-deep vend, you have to convert thecolumns (see page 17).

1. Plug the power cord into an 110 -120 V or 230 Vsocket. The operating voltage is shown on thetype plate at the rear side of the vending ma-chine (see page 35).! The message [Start] is displayed.! The red LED "EXACT INSERTION" lights

up. This indicates that the vending machine contains no/ not enough coins for change, i.e. in case of overpayment no change is given out.

2. Open the front door of the vending machine bymeans of the key.

3. Set the selling prices for the products (see page26) or switch the switch for free vend to "I" (the message [FrEE] is displayed).

4. If the coin unit of your vending machine is equipped with change tubes, fill the tubes with coinsfor change (see page 24).š The red LED "EXACT INSERTION" turns off.

5.2 Adjusting the Product Columns

The product columns have to be adjusted to the diameter and height of the products.

WARNING! Danger of injury to hands due to mechanical components!Always unplug the power cord before you work on the product columns.

5.2.1 Adjusting the Product HeightThe spring-mounted backs of the product columns limit the possible height of the rows of product.The depth of the product column should be about 10 mm/ 0.4 inches longer than the length of theproducts. In case of 2D sale, you have to adjust the double product height plus about 10 mm/ 0.4inches. For reasons of representation, the drawing only shows one side of a product column!

Follow the steps mentioned below in order to adjust the selling products correctly:

1. Loosen the back from the spring support by pushing it upwards.

2. Remove the back from the product column.

3. Change the position of both spring supports in the perforation to the required distance (productlength plus about 10 mm/ 0.4 inches).

4. Reinstall the back.

5.2.2 Adjusting the Width of the ColumnThe diameter of the product decides the width of theproduct column.

With narrower products, the width of the column alsohas to be reduced in order to guarantee a safe sellingrun.

To do so, use the plastic (2 mm/ 0.08 inches and 4mm/ 0.16 inches) and metal partitions (1 mm/ 0.04inches) included in the package contents.

Without the partitions, the product columns are de-signed for a product diameter of 66 mm/ 2.6 inches(for example 0.33 l cans). When using products with a smaller diameter, it isnecessary to install several partitions. In such a case,start with the plastic partition of 4 mm/ 16 inches,then use the plastic partition of 2 mm/ 0.08 inchesand at last the metal partition of 1 mm/ 0.04 inches.

For a safe selling run, the air gap between the prod-ucts must be of about 3 mm/ 0.12 inches. Select thenecessary partitions you need to maintain distance.

The different steps for the installation of the partitionsare described on the following page.

Filling the Product Columns

5.3 Filling the Product Columns

You set the selling prices for the products in each column (see page 26) and filled the coin unit withcoins for change (see page 24).

Follow the steps mentioned below in order to fill the vending machine:

1. Open the front door.

2. Open the door of the cooler.

3. Insert the first row of products into the vending machine, see figure.

4. Fill the vending machine with at least five rows ofproducts. The switch indicating that the columnsare empty has to be pushed down, otherwise themessage "sold out" is displayed.

NOTE: When filling the vending machine with bottles,the neck of the bottles has to point to the back.

ATTENTION! Product can get stuck!In order to guarantee a safe selling run, the air gapbetween the products must be of about 3 mm/ 0.12inches. The gap depends on the diameter of theproducts. Do not insert a can or a bottle directly intothe product compartment when filling the vending ma-chine for the first time.

5. After you have filled the vending machine withthe products, close the door of the cooler as wellas the front door.

6. Perform a test sale (see page 22).š The first product is delivered to the product

compartment.

7. Adjust the settings if problems occurred duringthe test sale.

Conversion from a 2-Deep Column to a 1-Deep Column

6 Conversion of the Columns – With some Technical Know-How

6.1 Conversion from a 2-Deep Column to a 1-Deep Column

Both columns are preset from the factory to a 2-deepsetting, in a free vend mode.

Follow the steps mentioned below in order to convertboth columns:

1. Remove the cover above the ejection mecha-nism.

WARNING! Danger of injury to hands!Always unplug the power cord before working on theproduct columns.

2. The power cord of the vending machine needs tobe plugged into an 110 - 120 V / 230 V socket.

3. Open the service program "Test Sales" in pro-gramming mode (see page 25).

4. Perform test sales of the product column untilthe eccentric disc is freely accessible so thatboth fastening screws can be accessed. ! The ejection mechanism is now in the right

position to convert the product columns.

5. Unplug the power cord.

6. Unscrew the fastening screws of the eccentricdisc.

7. Turn the cover on the eccentric disc.! For 2-deep vend, turn the cam cover until the

four notches are visible. ! For 1-deep vend, turn the cam cover until

two notches of the cam are visible.

8. Retighten the fastening screws.! The control unit can now identify the selling

mode of the vending machine.

Now, you need to make some settings concerning the product compartment. Follow the steps men-tioned below:

1. Loosen both supports which fix the product columns and the ejection mechanism in the casing.

2. Pull the product columns and the ejection mechanism carefully out of the casing until you canaccess the product compartments from below.

3. Remove the plastic wedges in order to operate the vending machine in 1D mode or install theplastic wedges in order to operate the vending machine in 2D mode.! To get access to both plastic wedges, you can turn the product compartment by means of

test sales. For that purpose, you have to plug in the vending machine.

WARNING! Danger of injury to hands due to mechanical components!Unplug the power cord before you work on the mechanical components.

4. Install the locking bolt at product length within the product compartment.! The locking bolt prevents smaller products from slipping during transport of the vending ma-

chine.! You have now converted the ejection mechanism from 1D mode to 2D mode or vice versa.

Follow the steps mentioned below in order to put the vending machine into operation again:

1. Push the ejection mechanism and the product columns back into the casing.

2. Screw the supports to the device.

3. Install the cover of the ejection mechanism.

4. After you have filled the vending machine with selling products, close the door of the cooler andthe front door.

5. Plug the power cord into an 230 V socket.

6. Perform a test sale.

7. Adjust the settings if problems occur during the test sale.

" Now, the vending machine is ready for operation.

7 Programming of the Vending MachineAll the program settings which have to be made to the vending machine are performed by means ofuser-friendly service programs.This chapter provides information on how to start the service programs and about the type of settingsto be made in the different service programs.

7.1 Starting the Service Programs

The programming is performed by means of the service keypad which is situated in the front door ofthe vending machine.

1. Be sure that the power cord of the vending machine is plugged into an 110 - 120 V / 230 Vsocket.

2. Open the front door of the vending machine.! The message [Sale] is displayed, which is followed by [Total Sales].

3. Take the service keypad out of its holder so that you can observe the service keypad and theLED display at the same time.

4. Press key "S" on the service keypad.! The message [Eror] is displayed. This is the first service program.! [Eror] is always displayed at the beginning even if no error occurs. In the case of an error,

you can display the error message by pressing key "4". If no error occurs, the message [nonE] is displayed. Press key "1" in order to return to the [Eror] display.

5. Use the keys "2" and "3" to navigate through the service programs.

NOTE: If you are not able to set values which are selected in the service programs, put the vendingmachine back to the factory settings (see page 30). All the settings are deleted and you have torepeat the programming of the parameters.

NOTE: The next pages contain information about the service programs listed in the table.

7.3 Service Programs

7.3.1 [Eror] – Error Message This service program is used to search for the reason of an error. A list of errors can be found on thefollowing page.

1. Select the service program [Eror].

2. Press key "4".! If no error occurs, the message [nonE] is displayed.! If an error occurs, the abbreviation is displayed, for example [door].

See list of error messages.

audit configuration This service program is used to set optional features of the device and the counters of the vending machine can be deleted (see page 30).

configuration of the coin acceptor

This service program is used to set the coin values and the point for decimal numbers.

back to selling mode After having pressed key "4" in this service program [rtn], you return to selling mode (see page 31).

4. Press key "4" longer than 2 seconds in order to delete an error message, error is cleared whenthe message [Clear] does not blink any longer.

5. Press key "1".! You have returned to the main menu. The message [Eror] is displayed.

How to exit from service levels

1. Return to home menu.! Press "I" key until menu returns to root menu title. (Refer to table on page 22 for menu ti-

tles.)

2. Scroll through titles using the "2" or "3" until you reach "rtn". Press "4" so unit returns to normaloperation.

3. Return service keypad to holder, then close door.

7.3.2 [CPo] – Coin Payout (only in Case of MDB/BDV Coin Systems)This service program is used to select the change tubes in order to pay out the coins.

1. Select the service program [CPo].

2. Press key "2".! The message [ .10] is displayed.

NOTE: In this case, the number which is displayed stands for 0.10 monetary units. These are thecoins with the lowest value which the vending machine can accept.

3. Press key "2" in order to select between the different coins.

4. Press key "4" in order to pay out the desired coins.! The coins fall into the change box.

5. Press key "1".! You have returned to the main menu. The message [CPo] is displayed.

7.3.3 [tuFL] – Tube Filling (only in Case of MDB/BDV Coin Systems)This service program is used to fill the change tubes with coins. Coins can be inserted in any order.

1. Select the service program [tuFL].

2. Press key "4".

3. Insert the coins for change into the insertion channel.! The vending machine counts the inserted money and the sum is displayed.

4. Press key "1".

5. You have returned to the main menu. The message [tuFL] is displayed.

1. Select the service program [tESt].

2. Press key "4".! The message [Co 01] is displayed.

3. Press key "4".! A test sale is performed in product column 1.! Press key "4" as often as you like to perform further test sales.

4. Press the keys for navigation "2" or "3" in order to change between the product columns.

5. Press key "1".! You have returned to the main menu. The message [tESt] is displayed.

1. Select the service program [CASH].

7.3.7 [PriC] – Price SettingThis service program is used to set the prices of the product columns.

1. Select the service program [PriC] by means of pressing key "S" and then key "2" until the mes-sage [Pric] is displayed.

2. Press key "4".

3. Enter the password "4231".! The message [Pr 01] is displayed.

4. Press key "4".! You are asked to set a price.

5. Set the price for the first product column by using the keys for navigation "2" (up) and "3"(down).

6. Press key "4".! Enter your selected price.

7. Press key "1" to have your price saved.

8. Press key "2".! The message [Pr02] is displayed.

9. Press key "4" to enter a new price.

10. Set the price for the second product column by using the keys for navigation "2" (up) and "3"(down).

11. Press key "4" to enter a new price.

12. Press key "1" twice.! First press saves the price. Second press returns you to the main menu.

NOTE: You can enter prices from 0.00 monetary units to 655.00 monetary units. If you set the pricesto 0.00 monetary units, the machine is set to free vend.

7.3.8 [StoS] – Column ConfigurationThis service program is used to set the selection which can be allocated to the product columns.

1. Select the service program [StoS].

2. Press key "4".

3. Enter the password "4231".! The message [SL 01] is displayed.

4. Press key "4".! The message [Co 01] is displayed.

5. Allocate the selection (SL 01) to the desired product column (Co 01 or Co 02) by using the keysfor navigation.

6. Perform the same steps for the selection (SL 02).

7. Press key "1" twice.

8. You have returned to the main menu. The message [StoS] is displayed.

7.3.9 [ConF] – Configuration of the Vending MachineThis service program is used to set all the configurations of the coin unit. They are subdivided intoseveral sub-programs [C1-C10] which are used to set single parameters.

1. Select the service program [ConF].

2. Press key "4".

3. Enter the password "4231".! The message [C 01] is displayed.

4. Select the desired sub-program (C1 to C10 – see following texts/ tables) by using the keys fornavigation "2" and "3".

5. Press key "4".

6. Enter the desired parameter and confirm your entry by pressing key "4".

7. Press key "1" twice.

8. You have returned to the main menu. The message [ConF] is displayed.

NOTE: The parameters C4-C10 are only used in MDB Mode. In Executive Mode, these parametersare directly set in the money changer.

C1 – Single Price/ MultipriceThis sub-program is used to determine whether one selling price or different selling prices are usedfor the product columns.

C2 – Determination of Tubes for the Display of a Low Change Level (only in Case of MDB/BDV Coin Systems)This sub-program is used to set the combination for the change tubes for the display "Exact Inser-tion". The display has to light up if one of the possible combinations falls below the required level.

C2 – Only in case of an executive coin system or a simple coin acceptor

C3 – Level for the Display "Low Change Level" (only in Case of MDB/BDV Coin Systems)This sub-program is used to set the number of coins which must be available in the tubes in order toavoid the display "Exact Insertion".

C4 – Single Sale/ MultisaleThis sub-program is used to determine whether the vending machine is to be operated in multisalemode (0) or in single sale mode (1)l.

C5 – Sale Mode (only in Case of MDB/BDV Coin Systems)This sub-program is used to set the sale mode.

C6 and C7 – Accepted Coins (only in Case of MDB/BDV Coin Systems)This sub-program is used to determine the coins which the vending machine should accept.Depending on the programming, the coin unit is able to identify 16 different coins. A value has to beentered for the number of coins. The (binary) values of the first 8 coins are entered in C6. The (bi-nary) values of the other coins are entered in C7.

If you want the vending machine to accept the coins mentioned in the example, you have to add upthe values of the coins (1+2+4+8+16=31).Add up the value of the coins and enter the value in sub-program C6. Enter "0" in sub-program C7as the number of the different coins cannot exceed "8".

NOTE: The examples states the normal case. However, if the vending machine should only acceptcoins with the value of 1 monetary unit, you have to enter the value "4".

Possible Entries

0 multisale mode – After money has been inserted, several products can be selected until the inserted money is used up.

1 single sale mode – After money has been inserted, only one product can be selected. Depending on the, change can be given.

C8 and C9 – Accepted Coins in the Case of Low Change Level (only in Case of MDB/BDV Coin Systems)This sub-program is used to determine the type of coins which the vending machine should acceptwhen the display "Exact insertion" lights up. The entry for C8 and C9 is the same as for C6 and C7.

NOTE: It is useful to adapt this entry to the price of the products. For example, if the value "7" (thefirst 3 coins) is entered and the price is set to 2 monetary units, the vending machine does not acceptcoins with the value of 2 monetary units any longer.

C10 – Resetting to the Factory Settings This sub-program is used to reset the vending machine to its factory settings. All the counters aredeleted and all the programs have to be set once again.

Enter the value "18" in sub-program [C10] and quit the programming. Unplug the power cord fromthe socket. Keep key "S" pressed and plug the power cord into the socket again (the message [StArt]is displayed). Keep key "S" pressed until the message [Eror] is displayed. The vending machine isnow reset to the factory settings and the programs have to be reset.

7.3.10 [SEt] – Audit ConfigurationThis sub-program is used to set optional features of the device and the counters of the vending ma-chine can be deleted.

1. Select the service program [SEt].

2. Press key "4".

3. Enter the password "4231".! The message [St 01] is displayed.

4. Press key "4".! The number of the device is displayed.

5. Press key "1".! The message [St 01] is displayed.

This service program is subdivided into [St 02], [St 03] and [St 04]. The sub-programs can be se-lected by using the keys for navigation.

9 Maintenance and Cleaning

9.1 Maintenance of the Vending Machine

Perform a sight check once a week. Check whether the electric and mechanical components are vis-ibly defective.

If problems occur in your vending machine, please contact Service at Deutsche Wurlitzer GmbH.

9.2 Cleaning of the Vending Machine

Clean the vending machine with a soft cloth once per week. Only use mild detergent.

Danger to life from electric shock!Unplug the power cord before cleaning the interior.

9.3 Fuses

All the circuits within the device (except for the refrig-eration circuit) work with low voltage (10, 24 or 26volts). This low voltage is supplied by a transformerthat converts the mains current. A fuse T3, 15 A is in-tegrated into the circuit prior to the transformer, andthree fuses (6,3 A, 4 A and 2 A) protect the controlcard, the motors and the paying system from over-load or short circuit.
