One - Objective
Understand the objective of the presentation
Two - Topic
Decide upon your topic and research in thoroughly. Determine which components and points will be covered during your presentation and place them in a logical order including an opening and closing component.
Three - Audience
Research who will be attending and what their expectations will be while attending
Four - Techniques
Include an assortment of presentation methods in your presentation using a variety of Audio Visual techniques.
Five - Engage
Engage the audience in the presentation, challenging them to think.
Six - Dress
Dress appropriately for the engagement and audience.
Seven - Handouts
Provide handouts when possible, people love to go away with something in their hands.
Eight - Logistics
Oversee the booking of the facility, equipment, food and beverage and supplies required for the presentation. Arrive early and ensure the set up is going according to plan. Be sure there will not be any distractions once the presentation has started.
Nine – Risk Management
Have contact names and numbers for the facility, AV personnel and any other person you may need to contact in the event of an emergency.
Ten - Timing
Start and finish on time providing adequate breaks.
Eleven – Wrap up
Provide time for questions (if appropriate) and make yourself available at the end of the presentation to meet the attendees. Offer to provide your contact information for follow up.
