P2P is a new initiative through the Taishoff Center for Inclusive Higher Education at Syracuse University. P2P will match up a diverse group of SU students to learn from and support each other in order to make the most of their experience at SU.

Three groups of students will be involved.

The OC (On Campus) students are students age 18-21 enrolled in the Syracuse City School District. They are auditing classes from 8:00-2:00 on the main campus. They are supported by a teacher and teacher assistants from the school district.

The AC (Access) students have finished high school and are auditing courses in a specific discipline (art, political science, etc.) to earn a certificate through University College. They attend classes at various times on the main campus and are supported by staff from Onondaga Community Living.

The TE (traditionally enrolled) have graduated from high school, and have come to SU from various places in the United States and around the world. They are enrolled in degree programs in many different schools at Syracuse University.

Because the OC and AC students are not enrolled full time and do not live on campus, they have limited opportunity to make connections with their peers at Syracuse University. But, because they live in Syracuse year-round, they have connections within the community that they can share with TE students.

The OC and AC students are also pioneers. Watch this video to learn more:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mxa0MDzbHvs

We’re looking for TE students who are willing to support their peers with intellectual and developmental disabilities in becoming a fuller part of the campus community. We’re looking for OC and AC students who are willing to teach as well as learn.
