Right or wrong?1) Christopher Columbus was an Englishman, who sailed to the west to find a new continent.He landed on Bahamas islands and found new people, who he called Indians, because they looked like people from India.He also named the new continent America.
2) In 1620, the Pilgrims left England on the ship Mayshower, to search for a new God.
3) In 1770, during the Boston massacre, there were killed about 50 Americans by the British soldiers.
4) During the War of Independence, the British fought with the French to get the territory in nowadays USA.
5) At the end of the War of Independence, the Declaration of Independence was signed.
6) George Washington, the author of the Declaration, became the first president of the USA.
7) During the 1830s , all Indians had to move to the west according to the Indian Removal Act.
8) In 1861, the Civil War broke out. The two enemies were the North (Confederacy) and the South (Union).
9) Abraham Lincoln issued Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, which ordered all slaves to stay in the south.
10) Abraham Lincoln died on the battlefield in 1865.
11) The USA joined the WWI in 1917 because it feared that after Canada joins Germany, they could attack them from the north.
12) In 1929, on Black Sunday, the stock market in NY crashed down and many people lost their money.
13) In the 1940s, alcohol was made illegal in the USA, we call this period PERMISSION.
14) During the WWII, the USA started the Manhattan Project, which was a recovery plan for the country.
15) On the 6th June 1944 on “D-day” American troops invaded Normandy to defeat the Japanese in Norway.
16) 3 nuclear bombs were dropped on Japan about 3 months before Germany surrendered in Europe.
