The ORAS Faction Update Happy new year to all! We hope all of you have enjoyed the christmas holidays and everyone can start this year with some fresh energy. We have lots of topics planned to do in this new year. You will read some of that in this update! 15-01-2019 Vision on internationalisation We see that there has been a grow in the amount of international students at the university. This academic year especially there was a big increase in the amount of international students in the bachelor due to Computer Science changing to a completely English bachelor. ORAS notices this and is forming a vision on internationalisation at the university. Do you have suggestions? This is, especially during exam time or in the weekends, a very important question for TU Delft students. ORAS is working together with the TU Delft to make this visible in the Findability Tool. The tender (aanbesteding) for this project is out, so now the selection for the party who could carry it out best has started! We will keep you updated! Virtual Reality Zone We think Virtual Reality is very useful and innovative, something that should be used in education. Students want their project to be supported by applications in Virtual Reality. Therefore, a real VR zone will be realised at TU Delft. This will be a place where you can create your own content. In the end of February this zone will officially open. Where? We will keep you updated about that with our social media! vvv RPF deadline After quite some meetings and discussions we’ve got the concession that the deadline of the Profiling Fund will be shifted with two weeks, so from the 1st of October to mid-October. Currently it’s still being figured out how this will be implemented, either by changing the Profiling Fund regulations or by deviating from the regulations. JANUARY Education OER Every student at the TU Delft has certain rights and obligations. These are combined in the Student charter, which contains your general rules for every student, and specified for your study program in the OER (Onderwijs en Examen Reglement) of your study. These regulations contain, for example, if you have the right of a practice exam and when you can expect the results of a test. Every year these regulations are adapted. All these regulations can be found on the website of the TU Delft, so check them out! l.t.r. Jip, Femke, Mart, Anne-Kee, Caspar, Charlotte, Louis. Blended Learning Last year, an amount of 155.000 euro from the pre- investments was used for the stimulation of blended learning (a mix between classical and online learning) in courses at TU Delft. According to ORAS, Blended Learning can be really beneficial to students (and teachers). In the next academic year, some courses within the curriculum of each faculty will use the Blended method. We will remain involved in the process and are open to new suggestions for innovation of education. Growth The past decennium the TU Delft has grown significantly. From 16 000 students to 23 500. We stand for an open university and think that everyone should get the opportunity to study here. But we cannot educate the whole world. That is why a solution should be found. We are in conversation with the TU Delft to voice the student’s opinion. Together we will work to a solution fitting with our values.
