Lisa,Card check is anti-democratic and wrong on so many levels. It is good to see McGovern speaking out about this.I am certain that nothing will happen in congress this session, but if "The One" wins the presidency, then this isgoing to sail through. If McCain wins, then the push will be on to pass this at the state level. We probably cannot override an act of congress with state law, but if they do pass this, I would think we could atleast make an issue out of it by trying to pass an amendment to Wisconsin's constitution to protect democracy inthe workplace. We may not get anywhere with it, but we should take the side of the workers instead of justignoring the issue. We should also start pushing a right to work law and paycheck protection in Wisconsin.I am going to have Dean in my office start looking into our options with Leg Council and also contact our friendDimitri Kesari (National Right To Work Committee).Leah

As alongtime friend of labor unions, I must raise my voice against pending legislation I see as a disturbing andundemocratic overreach not in the interest of either management or labor. The legislation is called the Employee Free Choice Act, and I am sad to say it runs counter to ideals that wereonce at the core of the labor movement. Instead of providing a voice for the unheard, EFCA risks silencing thosewho would speak. The key provision of EFCA is a change in the mechanism by which unions are formed and recognized. Instead of
