Vidya Samvardhak Mandal (VSM), established in 1960 by a group of visionaries and philanthropists Shri R.S. Kothiwale, Dr. S.S. Panade, Shri G.I. Bagewadi,Shri M.L. Khaded, Shri D.C. Ligade, Shri B.M. Nesti, Shri Paragouda Patil,Shri G.S. Kurbetti, Shri R.S. Kalyanshetti and Shri R.B.Jadhav of NipaniKarnataka had strived hard since its inception to create a blooming academic garden for the people in and around the town of Nipani.

The Mandal first established Primary School in 1963 and a Mid High School and a separate Girls High School was opened in 1966. In 1984 a Junior College was started. In response to the growing social demand by the people in the vicinity the Mandal started Kannada & Marathi Convent in 1993, B.B.A. in 1996, B.C.A. in 2000, Degree college in 2016.

With a vision to empower youth through technical education, VSMSRKIT was started in 2010 in a sprawling campus amidst lush greenery. VSMSRKIT ispresently running two shifts; in its first shift B.E. Programs and Diplomaprograms in the second shift.

Shri Somashekhar R. Kothiwale was one of the senior director of Vidya Samvardhak Mandal. Sir has served as chairman of mandal for 23 years, from 1986 to 2009. It was his vision to establish an engineering college under VSM Society to empower the rural youth through technical education.

Vidya Samvardhak Mandal’s Somashekhar R. Kothiwale Institute of Technology, Nipani was established in the year 2010 with aim to impart quality education to the rural youth and to the border area students of Karnataka and Maharashtra states.

The institute is located in Nipani town which is on national highway No.4, 70 kms from Belagavi city & 35 kms from Kolhapur (Maharashtra). VSMSRKIT is an integratedtechnical campus which runs Bachelor of Engineering programs in regular shift & Diploma in Engineering in second shift.

Well equipped infrastructures is state-of-the-art, with all modern aids to provide the excellent atmosphere for the teaching – learning process with the advancement of the technology. An excellent team of teaching faculty is induced and the right atmosphere is created to foster a community that strives to achieve the best possible educational environment.

The laboratories possess the state-of-the-art equipment to give every student the hands on training assisted by a team of excellent supporting staff. For outside students hostel facility is made available separately for girls & boys within the campus of the institute. I heartily welcome the young aspiring students to be a part ofVSMSRKIT and get through successfully as qualified professionals to contribute to the development of the nation.

Admission Procedure

B.E. Degree

Students who have passed PUC examination with Physics and Mathematics ascompulsory subjects along with Chemistry/ Bio Technology / Computer Science / Biology / Electronics as optional subject with English as one of the language of study & obtained an aggregate of 45% in qualifying examination are eligible to the firstsemester and in case of SC, ST, Category – 1 and OBC candidates with 40% of marks inqualifying examination are eligible.

Diploma candidates are also eligible to take admission to second year of respective branches under lateral entry scheme, if they have 45% of marks in their final year examination and must have appeared Karnataka CET examination.

Diploma

He / She must have passed SSLC / SSC or equivalent examination and must havestudied Mathematics and Science subjects compulsorily.

Students completed ITI course are eligible to take admission to second year under lateral entry scheme.

B.E. Degree

In accordance with the government policy 75% of seats in B.E. courses will be filled by the Government of Karnataka through Common Entrance Test (CET), 25% of seats will be filled under the Management quota.

Diploma

In accordance with the government policy, all seats will be filled at institute level.

VALUE ADDED PROGRAMMES

CONTEXTThe proposed UG fellowship program is designed for undergraduate engineering and diploma students. The program runs in selected European Universities. The objective of the program is to provide International exposure to the student to work on projects of future technology under supervision of foreign university faculty. In this program students are expected to learn and understand recent trends in the technology and complete the projects in the area of his/her interest in the environment of product development cycle. Global exposure for life skill development, focus building and long term career planning are the other best benefits of the program.

This program is a short duration training program conducted at the foreign hostUniversity on various specialized concepts. Program is aiming to promote problem or project based learning among affordable selected students and provide theminternational exposure.

DurationDuration of the program may vary as per the availability of the resources and facilities at the host University. It can be minimum of 30/45/60 days.

The Value Added Program (VAP) is first of its kind in Engineering Colleges of this region, with the aim of producing skilled engineers and to enhance the employability of students.

The program is scheduled throughout the course of engineering which coverstechnical, aptitude, communication and personality development, etc.

Department ofCivil Engineering

The field of civil engineering has been growing very fast in the recent years as we have now realized the importance of infrastructure development.

It includes study in the areas of Surveying, Geotechnical Engineering, StructuralEngineering, Transportation Engineering , Irrigation & Water Resource Engineering, Water Supply & Sanitary Engineering and Building Materials and ConstructionTechnology.

The department aims at imparting better education in the field of Civil Engineering to suit the ever growing construction industry and is dedicated to maintain highestquality in teaching and also practical aspects.

The department trains the young engineers equipped with latestknowledge in the field of Civil Engineering by providing conductive teachingenvironment in the classrooms followed by practical training in the relevantlaboratory to have hands on experience followed by field visits.

Department ofMechanical Engineering

The department offers a rich integrated curriculum of education and researchexposure to its students. Experimental computational facilities are being continuously upgraded.

The job opportunities are wide open for Mechanical Engineers in aerospace,Automotive and Manufacturing sectors apart from research establishments. The areas of study includes Manufacturing processes, Mechatronics, Heat and Mass Transfer, Tool Engineering and Design, Design of Machine Elements, CIM and Robotic.

The scope of the course varies from material research to machinerydevelopment, Nano Technology, Smart Materials, Aerospace Technology, FMS, CIM, Automation and such other interrelated developments.

Our aim is to bridge the gap between industry & educational institution. Our lab is set-up with ultra modern testing machines to cope up with advanced technologies.

Department ofElectronics &CommunicationEngineering

The department of Electronics & Communication Engineering which is a part of this esteemed institution since 2010, is one of the pioneers in the field of technology.

The Electronics & Communication Engineering involves the transmission ofinformation across channels such as a coax cable, optional fiber or free space. You can work on designing equipment such as routers, switches, multiplexers and electronic switching systems, copper telephone facilities and fiber optics.

The department is headed by eminent professors with experts in their own recent technological specializations, aims at educating and training students with soundknowledge and awareness in the latest trends in electronics, communication &information technology with real time approach.

The state of the art laboratories complement the high standards set by thecompetitive syllabus and nurture the inclination of the students towards research and development, besides giving them the necessary and sufficient practical knowledge that they need in industries.

Department ofComputer Science& Engineering

The department of Computer Science and Engineering at VSMSRKIT was established in the year 2010.

The department provides an outstanding learning environment complemented by excellence in teaching.

The faculty members aim at delivering top class education. Blending their richexperience with classroom teaching and hands on session as well.

The department is moving ahead to build the technical platform to student byspreading awareness of technologies, transferring of the knowledge, developing the obtained knowledge and encouraging the students to solve real time problems.

It has state-of-the-art infrastructure and computing equipment supported by high speed internet and wireless networks.

Department ofGeneral Science

The department of General Science has come into existence since the inception of the institute.

Short Term Goal: To impart quality education in basic science and to get consistent excellent results in examination.

Long Term Goal: To expand the Basic Science support to all technical branches.

The department has a good infrastructure with spacious working area, consisting of Laboratories, HOD Cabin, Staff Rooms and Computing facility.

The department has well qualified, dedicated and self motivated faculty members and the supporting staff.

The staff members have very good interaction with students and involve themselves in the welfare of the students. This ensures a good academic performance by the students. The department has been getting excellent results both in theory andpractical examinations.

Training &Placement Cell

Objectives of Training & Placement Cell

The institute has very well established Training & Placement Cell. Many reputedcompanies visit the institute for campus recruitment. The cell is meant for regular mock interviews, group discussions, soft skill training and many more activities.

Dissemination of information about JOB openings, providing students updated skill to suit present industrial requirements.

The cell arranges in-plant training, Industrial visits, providing industriallysponsored projects, arranging guest lectures by industry experts, providinginternships in industries, arranging faculty development programs, arrangingplacement seminars, arranging career counselling programs and many more...

To motivate students to develop technical knowledge and soft skills in terms of career planning and to bridge the gap between industries and institution.

Aiming to place the maximum number of students through campus & offcampus interviews conducted by the MNC companies.

To motivate students aspire for higher studies and guiding them to takecompetitive exams such as Indian Army, GATE, IES,UPSC,KPSC, RRB etc.

Library &Information Center

The Library at VSMSRKIT, Nipani was established in the year 2010. TheChairman of the society and the Principal have taken keen interest in establishing the Library to give the networked Library facility to the faculty members, staff and students, to get the best available information for research and reference.

The Library working hours are from 09.00 am to 06.00 pm. The Library has 450 sq.m area of reading room. Digital Library with a capacity of 20 computers having 32 Mbps leased line internet connection, and many volumes of Journals and Books forreference.

Latest Books in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics &Communication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering and General Science Books are also added for the reference of the staff and students. 460 CD ROM's of latest text books are also made available for users.

At present more than 20376 Books and 24 National and International Journals inprinted versions are made available. Also, Online Journals of IEEE, Springer, ASCE and many more are made available. Everyday more than 40 staffs and 400 students are making use of the Library regularly for retrieval of latest information.
