The Hub Operations courses guide Tier 1 support personnelthrough System Theory, Architecture, Data-Flow, Installation, Operation, basicTroubleshooting & Maintenance procedures. The Advanced Hub Operators courses aredesigned to enhance the skill set of Tier 2 level support personnel who will be responsible forperforming high-level Network diagnostics and troubleshooting. The Advanced courses alsoenable the Hub Operator to configure and maintain optional various add-on applications suchas QoS, Voice, and Internet Page Accelerator, Multicast for the data products, E1, and Call

    Analyzers for the Telephony products. The troubleshooting course enables senior huboperators to practice simulate and system faults giving providing analysis knowledge anddeep understanding. A variety of associated technology seminars that are needed as

    preliminary knowledge for Gilat products are offered, including Internetworking, TCP/IP,Basic and Advanced Telephony, and E1. Customized courses are available for Call Centerswho will be supporting VSAT customers.

    Students who successfully complete the Standard or Advanced Hub Operators Courses willreceive a Tier 1 or Tier 2 Support Accreditation Certificate.

    All courses are conducted at one of Gilats certified training centers located in the companyheadquarters and Thailand. Each facility is equipped with the latest Hub, NMS/ConfigurationSoftware, Remote VSATs and applications equipment. Custom curriculums or on-sitetraining pricing can be provided upon request.

    Course Overview:

    The SkyEdge II Hub Operations course is aimed at Tier 1 & 2 Hub operators who will beinstrumental in operating and maintaining the SkyEdgeII Hub and Remote VSATs.Participants should enroll in a scheduled course just prior to the Hub installation.The overall objectives of the course are to introduce participants to the SkyEdgeII systemfrom a theoretical, operational and practical perspective. The course entails daily hands-onworkshops and exercises, enabling participants to practice system/equipment configurationand perform basic troubleshooting.

    Previous work experience in VHF/UHF Land-Mobile, cellular, TVRO, terrestrial microwaveantenna installations or other RF related fields, is advantageous but not required.

    Course Overview:

    This course is aimed at technicians who will be installing and/or maintaining remote VSATs.If sub-contractors are planned to install the VSATs, it is highly recommended that theyparticipate in this course as well. Participants will practice installing a Channel MasterKu-Band Antenna using a Spectrum Analyzer or Field Strength meter.

    Course Objectives:Upon completion of this course, the students will be able to:

    Explain the network architecture and basic theory of the VSAT operation

    Have a fundamental understanding of Basic Satellite Communications as well asrelevant Satellite and RF terminology/acronyms

    This course teaches how to perform the necessary calculations in order to carry out systemsizing from the customers perspective.This training is characterized by a practical approach, going progressively from simple tomore complex sizing scenarios, always through practical cases.This training also provides the tools to understand a different angle of the SkyEdge II systemand its present capabilities. The course provides the skills to handle sizing tools and relateditems, such as frequency planning. In addition, the course explains the need to reformulatethe link budgeting.
