GENERAL INFORMATION

The University Course to Prepare for Supplemen-tary Exams (VPLUS) aims at preparing international applicants so they can prove their knowledge of the German language according to (§ 63 (10a) and (10b) University Act of 2002).

Students are eligible to participate in the courses of the preparation course for three semesters and are classed as non-degree students during this time. The supplementary examination must be completed before admission to a regular course of studies at Paris-Lodron-University Salzburg (PLUS).

PREREQUISITES

Subject to sufficient course places, all participants who fulfil the following prerequisites can participate in the course:

• Acceptance letter from the Rector of the Paris-Lodron-University of Salzburg.

• Registration and admission as a non-degree student with the given registration periods.

• Full payment of the given course fees plus the Austrian Students‘ Union (ÖH) fees of € 20,70 per semester within the given deadlines.

• The obligatoy placement test takes place on Tuesday, 23.02.2021, 9.00 am-1.00pm. The result is binding.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Students acquire language skills at level B2+ of the Common European Framework of Reference for Lan-guages. Students will develop language skills so they can cope in Austrian academic and general everyday life. They will have a good command of German which will enable them to follow and actively participate in courses.

In addition to the linguistic and specialist knowledge required for their studies, study-specific skills, inclu-ding the ability to learn autonomously, and intercul-tural competences are key areas of VPLUS. This will enable students to act autonomously in university and non-university life.

COURSE STRUCTURE

COURSE FEES AND CANCELLATION

Participants must pay course fees of € 700 per semester to attend the course. The total course fees are € 2,100. Costs for course books are extra. The course fee of € 700 is to be paid after registration.

Cancellation of the binding course registration can only be made in writing and should be sent to the Scientific Directors by the 20th February 2021.

The decisive factor in the withdrawal / cancellation of course registration is the date the written decla-ration reaches the University of Salzburg. In this case, the course fees are not due.

In the case of a later cancellation the full course fee has to be paid as a cancellation fee.

The university may disregard payment of the course fees / cancellation fee if the now free place on the course can be filled without any administrative ef-fort. Should a participant be forced to prematurely end the course due to unforeseen, unavoidable, fateful events, such as an accident, a serious li-fe-threatening illness or the like, the university may disregard payment of the remainder of the course fees and repay the part of the course that was not taken.
