inroleplayactivities,
completedquizzesand
createdpuppetsusing
variousaspectsofart.
Itwasafascinating
daypackedwithloadsof
excitementandfun.We
workedhardandhadfun
allatthesametime.

Onthe5thMarch,wecelebratedWorldBookDay.Mostpeoplearrivedatschooldressedasacharacterfromtheirfavorite
book.Iwasdressedupasoneofthetributesofthe75thHungerGamesfromthebookCatchingFire(thesequeltoTheHungerGames.)TheHungerGamesisabookthatissetinaplacecalledPanem.Warandnaturaldisastersmadesurethatthiswastheonl
yplaceleft;itwasdividedinto12districtsandonerichcitycalledtheCapital.Thedistrictsweretreatedlikeslaves
sotheywarredagainsttheCapitalbutunfortunatelylost.Therefore,theHungerGameswerecreatedtoremindthemaboutthewarandhowtheCapitalcouldnotbe
defeated.WorldBookDaygaveustheopportunitytolistentoothersabouttheirfavouritebooksandcharacters.Itwasafundayanditwasmadeevenmorespecialbyhavingallofthe
teachersdressedupascharactersfrombookstoo!

wewereabletotakepartin
variousliteracyactivities
plannedaroundourSpiderwick
topic.Wewerechallengedto
createourownvarietyof
goblin,sprite,troll,orc
andotherspeciesfromthe
Spiderwickfantasyworld!We
watchedtheSpiderwickmovie
andreadpartofthebook.
Wecreatedourownfantasy
creaturesandmadeourworklook
likeithadcomefromapageout
oftheactualChronicles(the
FieldGuidefromSpiderwick.)
Overall,thedaywasFANTASTIC
andI,forone,reallyenjoyedit!

On Thursday 5th March 2015,
we celebrated WORLD BOOK DAY! On
this special occasion all of thechildren were allowed to dress up
as a character from their favorite
book. I dressed up as a 16 year old
girl from a book called Mysterious
Chaos.
In the book, a girl called
Chelsea moves to London as her
parents had recently got divorced.
Whilst Chelsea was in London she
met a boy named Nick. Chelsea liked
Nick as he was very well behaved.
However, soon she discovered a big
secret behind his good behavior...
She began to investigate further
and found lots of interesting
clues. In the end, Nick was
punished and Chelsea happily lived
her life discovering a lot more
about the world.My favorite part of the day was
the afternoon as we linked some
literacy activities to our NICER
topic - Goblins and Ghouls. My
favourite activity was when we
combined different creatures from
The Spiderwick Chronicles. Wedid this to make our own mystical
creatures. I drew a Grite which
is half goblin and half sprite.
After we drew our creatures, we
picked a character from The
Spiderwick Chronicles and we
prepared ve questions for them
to answer. I picked the character
Thimbletack (the Brownie who
protects the Chronicles). One of my
questions was: when and where did
you rst meet Arthur Spiderwick? We
created these resources to make our
own story sack to share with other
classes in the school.
The whole day was
extraordinarily fun and I really
enjoyed dressing up. In addition
to this, I enjoyed seeing all ofthe teachers dressed up in fun
(storybook character) clothes too!

alsoenjoyedhavingicecreamatthebreak!

A4.Yes,becauseit isexciting, ithadbrilliant special effectsand
itsgoodforallthefamilytogoandseetogether.

play?A5.Initially,itstartedoffanditwasquietwithjustsomemusic,
thenthereweresingersanddancersonthestage.Therewere
lotsofmagicaleffectsanditwassocolourfulonthestage.The
costumeswereall bright coloursandthefairyhadabeautiful
dressandamagicwand. Shegot toflyintheskytoo.The
beanstalkwasreallytallandthegiantwashugeandscary! There
werelotsof songsandwelaughedalotasitwasquiteamusing.

Q1. What did you see at Birmingham Airport?A1. We saw lots of airplanes taking off and making a WHOOSH
sound as the wheels left the runway. We saw all the equipment and the
machines that the crew use. We saw the Captain of a plane, who was very
friendly and helpful and who took us on one of the airplanes.
Q2. What did you do at the airport?A2. We did lots while we were there. We had a snack of biscuits, we
watched a film about airplanes. Also, we played for a short time, coloured
in pictures of airplanes and we were able to design our own plane.
Q3. What was your favorite part of the day?A3. (Rhianna) My favourite part of the day was when I got to design my
own plane. (Amelia) My best bit of the day was when we went on the
airplane and the Captain flew it!
Q4. If you could describe the day in one word what would you say?Q4. Its hard to use one word, as there are so many words to describe the
day But we definitely had Fun.
Q5. If you could y anywhere, where would you go?A5. (Rhianna) I would want to go to Brazil. (Amelia) I would want to go to
Germany or Poland.
Q6. Why would you choose those countries to visit?A6. (Rhianna) I dont really know why I would like to go to Brazil, its just
the place I know I want to go. I would go to Germany or Poland because I
have family who live there.

Q1. What is your favourite part of the job thatyou do?
A1. Being creative, being able to do what I enjoyand telling other people about it.

A2. The most famous person Ive met to date
is Neil Gaiman, the best-selling author of theSandman comic book series.
Q3. Why is he your favourite famous person?A3. Neil Gaiman is a big role model for me; thatis why he is my most favourite famous person.
Q4. What area of writing do you enjoy themost?
A4. I like writing about drama, television andmovies.
Q5. If you hadnt have followed the path ofbeing a writer, what other profession would you
have liked to have been involved in?A5. First, I wouldve liked to have been a doctorbut, Im not clever enough. So Id have loved tohave been an actor (even though I cant act)!

Q1. What inspired you to be a teacher?A1. My own Year 6 teacher, Miss Hill, inspired me tobe a teacher because she was extremely nice and
was very good at teaching. Also she knew how tohandle children very well.
Q2. Where did you work before you came to VPA?A2. Before I arrived at VPA, I worked at Currys(electrical store). I also worked at a high school
and another primary school.
Q3. How long did you work at your previous joband what made you leave?
A3. I worked at my previous job for 2 years and Ileft that job because Miss Fowler (VPAs old DeputyHead Teacher) asked me to come and work here at
Victoria Park.
Q4. In your career so far, which year group haveyou enjoyed teaching the most and why?
A4. I have enjoyed teaching Year 2 the mostbecause every single day I get the opportunity tosee the enjoyment the children are having whilst
coming to school.
Q5. Out of 1 to 10 (10 being the highest), whatrating would you give our school and why do yourate it at that score?
A5. I would rate this school with a score of 10 out of10 because it is at the forefront of teaching.
Q6. What is the most exciting moment you haveexperienced here in this school and why was ityour most exciting experience?
A6. Thats probably when we learnt about NeilArmstrong (the astronaut). This is because it wasnice to see the enthusiasm on the childrens faces.
Q7. Do you have any hobbies, what are they andwhat is your favorite hobby?
A7. I like to draw, play computer games, I go tothe gym and I also go skateboarding. My favoritehobby has to be playing computer games becausethey are just really GREAT fun!
Q8. What is your favorite food and drink?A8. My favorite food is Hawaiian pizza because itis extremely tasty and makes me feel spiritual onthe inside. My favorite drink is milk because whenI come back from the gym it feels good and healthyto have a nice cold glass of milk.
