You know you want to go on a cruise holiday, but where should you visit? These are just some of
our suggestions.
Explore Antarctica on a true polar expedition, setting foot on the most unique and remote place on Earth. Explore the frozen wilderness on daily landings and excursions and meet the curious and fearless Antarctic animals like penguins, whales and seals in their natural habitat.
The Norwegian Fjords are sure to leave you with everlasting memories. Gaze upon mountainside farms, quaint villages, seals, porpoises, schools of fish swimming in the waters, with eagles and other birds looking down from above.
Cruising the Inside Passage through Canada and Alaska is an insight into history, a variety of cultures and spectacular beauty. You’re sure to love the ever-changing scenery, from picturesque shores to friendly coastal towns and towering forests.
Mediterranean cruise holidays offer experiences like no other; places in which you can immerse yourself in the different culture, foods and architecture. History, beaches, art, cafe culture, sightseeing opportunities and glorious weather all combine to make the Mediterranean an incomparable cruise option.
A cruise around the Caribbean could see you relaxing on beautiful stretches of pristine white sand, paddling in turquoise waters filled with tropical fish or exploring volcanos. Meet stingrays in Antigua, flamingos in Bonaire, sharks in Jamaica or seahorses in St. Croix.

Cruise News
Our recent customer survey showed that you’re as passionate as we are about responsible travel.
For us, that means working to ensure tourism brings greater benefits for local people and economies in destinations, offering positive choices which are not harmful to people, animals or the environment.
That’s where Travel Counsellors comes in. We care for our people, our customers and our communities – both those we live in and those we send our customers to every day. We work with international charity, The Travel Foundation, to help leave a better world for future generations to enjoy and explore.
The cruising industry has developed many ways to make sure that your cruise holiday is contributing to a more sustainable world. In fact, the cruising industry recycles 60% more waste per person than the average person does on land. They’re also building reefs, collecting critical ocean data, restoring
fisheries and helping develop best practices for coastal communities. And by partnering with world-class organisations, they’re also ensuring the health of the oceans and communities they visit. By 2030, the cruise industry has promised to reduce its fleet-wide rate of CO2 emissions by a whopping 40%, so you can enjoy your cruise holiday knowing you’ve done your bit for sustainability.
There’s never been a more exciting time to cruise. In 2020, we’ll see the introduction of stunning
ships such as MS Fridtjof Nansen (below), the latest addition to Hurtigruten’s fleet of custom-built ships. Combining state of the art technology and premium on-board experience with Hurtigruten’s 125 years of expertise and unparalleled destinations, the ship introduces the next generation of adventure travel.
P&O will introduce the beautiful ‘Iona’ ship, designed to bring the outside in. Through innovative design and unique spaces, she connects you with the sea, sky and shoreline.
Silversea’s ‘Silver Moon’ promises to be the epitome of 21st century luxury travel, featuring the all-new Sea And Land Taste (S.A.L.T.) programme – an immersive culinary concept that will enable guests to travel deeper through a range of destination based gastronomic experiences. There’s also the all-new Silver Origin, the most elegant ship to ever sail to the Galapagos.
Meanwhile, Crystal Endeavor will take guests from extreme polar regions to remote tropical isles, exploring the world’s most intriguing destinations with extraordinary insight. There really has never been a better time to embark on a cruise adventure!

Day 8: Akureyri
Iceland’s Capital of the North is the gateway to a thrilling land of roaring waterfalls, soaring volcanoes and glorious wildlife. It may lie a mere 60 miles from the Arctic Circle, but Akureyri blossoms with a bright, cosmopolitan feel, and explodes into life during the summer months.

It’s a suite life
2222
Why suites are accessible for everyone...
Contrary to what you might expect, booking a suite on a cruise offers great value for
money – hence the fact that suites are the first to book up on any sailing. Drinks, superior dining, WiFi, exhilarating shore excursions and perhaps even butler service are included in the price, meaning suites are often a way of getting the best deal. All major cruise lines offer suites, some accommodating large groups of six people or more. The degree of luxury varies by cruise line, but you can often expect lavish furnishings, truly outrageous gadgets and gizmos, and even your own pool and/or original artworks.

Private beach and nature resorts are set to expand across the world
One of the most interesting recent developments within the cruise industry
has been the creation of private islands in the Bahamas and Caribbean – a way for cruise lines to offer unique experiences that extend their great service and amenities at sea onto the land. Among them are MSC’s transformation of a former sand-extraction site into a thriving marine reserve and resort at Ocean Cay (p.34) and Royal Caribbean’s Perfect Day at CocoCay (p.30). In a trend that can only grow and grow, Disney, Princess and Carnival now also offer private-island experiences.

less than a private-island beach resort reserved exclusively for Royal Caribbean guests. Dock here and you can spend the day making the most of fantastic facilities (most of them complimentary) including the Thrill water park, a zip-wire, Splashaway Bay Aqua Park, the Up, Up and Away helium balloon and the Oasis Lagoon freshwater pool.
From one minute to the next, you might be whizzing through the waves on a jet ski and getting busy at South Beach with its zorbing, glass-bottomed kayaking and other action-packed sports, grabbing a cold beer at Captain Jack’s, enjoying buckets of fun at Splashaway Bay or going with the flow on Chill Island – the choice is entirely yours. CocoCay also comes complete with free deckchairs and beachside activities, as well as five new dining venues that are included in your holiday price.
You can experience Perfect Day at CocoCay from sailings aboard Allure, Harmony and Symphony of the Seas, as well as short Caribbean escapes aboard Mariner of the Seas and Navigator of the Seas.
• It’s reimagined what’s possible in a single day.
• Its water park has the tallest waterslide in North America and the biggest wave pool in the Caribbean.
• There’s plenty of scope to relax, including at Coco Beach Club with its infinity pool.

Wild places with soul, just waiting to be explored
The chance to see awesome wildlife against the backdrop of the Arctic or Antarctic
wilderness or to explore the Galapagos, recreating the steps Darwin took on his journey towards formulating the theory of evolution, is a burgeoning trend among those looking to combine creature comforts with discovery. You’ll be guided by experts on wildlife, ocean preservation and the Northern lights, to name just three possible topics. Once the preserve of supply ships and exploration vessels, these destinations can now be reached aboard purpose-built, luxury strengthened ice-ships, some of which use environmentally friendly battery-powered propulsion.

EXPEDITION CRUISING
Hurtigruten offer unique expedition cruises to some of the most remote and pristine waters of
the world. Antarctica is without a doubt, one of the most extraordinary, wondrous places on the planet. It stands as the last unexplored continent and is like nowhere else on earth.
Majestic mountains rise up from the icy sea, coated in thick snow. Glaciers creep across the landscape and carve icebergs along the coast, turning them into floating sculptures that you can touch with your bare hands. An abundance of wildlife brings Antarctica to life, including of course, the iconic penguins that number in the millions. Hurtigruten is taking adventure travel into the next century and beyond. In this age of mass tourism, Hurtigruten are proud to offer explorers the chance to travel with meaning. Not only do they take guests to some of the world's most beautiful destinations, but they immerse them in the cultures and environments they are visiting through comprehensive on-board lecture programmes and activities, led by expert Expedition Teams.
With the launch of the world's first hybrid-powered expedition ships, a fleet wide plastic ban and many more environmental efforts, Hurtigruten is leading the way to a more sustainable way of travelling.
• All expeditions are accompanied by highly knowledgeable and experienced expedition teams.
• With 126 years' experience, they are the expedition experts.
• On-board science, photography and lecture programmes to enhance your trip.

Aurora’s small-group, personal expeditions – which include trips to the polar regions – are based on
a passion for adventure, for exploring wild places that stir the soul and for sharing the experience. Each expedition is accompanied by a world-class team of remote-area specialists whose on-board lectures both entertain and expand your knowledge.
Aurora’s itineraries are designed with flexibility in mind – if weather or sea ice blocks the way, there’s always a Plan B (and C and D!). The adventurous teams are always on the look-out for new places to explore and are not afraid to adjust their schedule if they stumble on an unexpected wildlife display.
These are also low-impact expeditions. Passengers are fully briefed on environmental guidelines and the scientific reasons behind them, and guides demonstrate how to observe wildlife in ways that cause minimum impact – the excellent guide to passenger ratio means the environmental education continues on-shore.

contemporary innovation with authentic flavours and world-class service as it introduces you to the majesty of the Mekong River on the journey of a lifetime through Vietnam and Cambodia.
