Astronomy Night A big thank you to Astronomers’ Jim & Patricia for sharing their telescopes & knowledge last Friday night. We saw Venus, Saturn, Jupiter, Mars & the Jewell Box Constellation. There was a little cloud cover, but we still saw the ring around Saturn, four moons beside Jupiter & there was a dust storm on Mars. Thank you to the locals who supported this night

& Northern Vic Quarter Horse Club for letting us

use their yards. Hopefully next February we can

check out the moon & star constellations!!

Talent Given, Talent Shared Sewing classes were started during the school holidays to give the younger girls knowledge to sew their own clothes but it turned out the Mums would love to learn. Helen Garchitorena asked Rose Harris who works in the Op Shop if she would be happy to share her talent. So eve-ry Sunday afternoon at the Pyramid Hill Senior Citizens Clubrooms we see sewing mums and a few young girls learning the trade. The girls bring food & they are so happy. They have now brought their own sewing machines (they borrowed 2 from P H College to begin with). They have made tops, tracky dax, now a summer dress and Shamica was making shorts. They have learnt to make a pattern.

Bernie Cockfield helped Cristina Vicente (a Mum who is here to

spend time with her family) to crochet. Next on the learning list is

zips and button holes.

Netball Report MINIS The girls took to the court for the last time this season. MGYCW were a tight team with some pretty impressive plays, but Pyramid was showing off just how much all of the girls have improved this season. Some fantastic intercepts kept the game interesting, as well as the accuracy of the goals on both sides. What a great game to finish off the 2018 season. A big thanks goes to their coach, Adam Caspani, for his work with the girls again this year, the improvement in their game is pretty impressive. Awards for the day went to Ellesha, Erin, Jasmine and Charli. 15&U It was a hard fought game with the girls trying hard to prove that they were worthy opponents to beat the top team. The girls proved that they were a worthy team when they began to believe in themselves, they tried their absolute hardest the whole match and they also gave MGYCW a run for their money. Well done on an awesome game Pyramid Hill and congratulations on being in the finals. The awards went to Kara, Imogen, Brianna and Keeley. Pyramid Hill 33 defeated by MGYCW 40. 17&U The 17’s girls stepped on court with a challenge ahead, not winning today meant they may miss out on their finals spot. Their first quarter started off well, taking the first goal, but after that, MGYCW stepped out in front with their beautiful passages of play. Coming into the second quarter, the girls woke up and executed some amazing skills, but still couldn’t quite keep up with MGYCW. At half time, the Pyramid girls still had their heads in the game, being less than 10 goals down. However, into a quiet third quarter, the MGYCW girls managed to get a big 8 goal run on the Doggies, which they struggled to stop. Stepping onto the court for the fourth quarter giving it their all, knowing that depending on next week, this could be their last game of the season. A beautiful last quarter saw fantastic defence and awesome shooting and with lots of risk taking, for the first time during the game, the Doggies managed to break a few centres and get a small run on the Eagles. The Pyramid girls were very proud of their last quarter and enjoyed the match - fingers crossed the results work out in their favour so they can follow with that last quarter’s performance into finals. Best on was awarded to Jordann Broad and Liv Hampson. Pyramid Hill 42 defeated by MGYCW 64. C RESERVE The Ressie girls came out determined to give it their best and give the Eagles a run for their money and in the first half of the match, by were in front on the court taking intercepts and also in front on the score board. The opposition stepped up their game in the last half, as the Pyramid Ressie girls lost puff and the Eagles took the win by 12 goals. All of the Pyramid girls worked hard and had a fantastic game. Awarded best on was Katelyn Wandin, for her determination, intercepts and rebounds. Pyramid Hill 32 defeated by MGYCW 44. C GRADE Coming into their final game for the season, the girls were keen to have some fun with random changes at each quarter time! The first half saw the Eagles and Doggies come pretty close with scoring goals, but the second half saw the Eagles increase their score - out of reach for the Doggies. It was a great year for the C grade girls with some awesome wins throughout the season. Best on was awarded to Morgan Bellinger. Pyramid Hill 18 defeated by MGYCW 45. Bring on next year! Thank you to Amber Angel and Georgia Holland for dedicating their time and coaching the girls every week. B GRADE The B grade girls were up against a tough team in their last game before finals, as they faced MGYCW. A tight first quarter saw them down by 5 at quarter time. Both teams fought hard for the entire game, with the Pyramid girls even getting up by 1 goal at one stage, but, ultimately the Eagles came out on top with a deserving win. The girls finished 5th on the ladder and we wish them the best of luck in finals. Best on was awarded to Lauren Moon. Pyramid Hill 39 defeated by MGYCW 44. A GRADE In windy and wet conditions, the A grade girls went into the match needing to win to qualify for finals - but unfortunately ended the season with a loss. The first quarter saw the girls steading the ball around the wet court, going down by only 2 for the quarter. The defence worked hard, putting awesome pressure on the MGYCW goalies. Going into the third quarter, the Doggies were down by 4 and were able to create several turnovers, however they struggled to move the ball into their goalies. The last quarter saw the Pyramid A grade side set with the task of overcoming a 6 goal margin, they worked tirelessly, but couldn’t get the win. Best on was awarded to Zoe Kennedy. Pyramid Hill 36 defeated by MGYCW 42.

Football Report With the bye in the last Round, Round 17 was to be our last chance to stamp our authority on the completion but unfortunately not all games ended with the results we had hoped for! Our Under 18's looked good from the beginning & didn't disappoint, coming away with a win & cementing top spot going into finals. We always knew the day would be an interesting & challenging one for our Reserves & Seniors with a number of players having to play both games. Results didn't go our way but under the circumstances we can't be too disappointed & now look forward to all 3 teams having a crack at finals!

Under 18s The boys were primed for a highly anticipated clash with the Maiden Gully YCW Eagles. A couple of lapses last time we played led to a 47 point defeat & we were keen to make up for that below par performance. We started really well, our pressure was high and Dylan Goulding kicked a pearler from 50 to set the scene for the day. We ran hard both ways and maintained our structures very well. After leading by 8 points at half time, we kicked away in the third term and took the margin out to 21 with a quarter to play. The boys were really smart with their ball use & didn’t take the foot off the pedal all day – maintaining that buffer until the final siren sounded. Zac Dingwall was excep-tional across half back whilst Mitch Stephens won plenty of ball through the middle. A great win for the boys who have now locked in top spot! Final Scores: Pyramid Hill 7.10.67 defeated Maiden Gully YCW 4.6.30. Goals: D. Goulding 3, C. Cooper 1, M. Farrell 1, E. Caburnay 1, A. Cunningham 1. Brett Hercus Award: Z. Dingwall. Millers Ag Supplies Award: M. Stephens. Pyramid Bakery Cafe Award: B. Moon. Special Award: J. Godfrey. Others: D. Goulding, C. Cooper, M. Farrell, L. Dillon, E. Caburnay, M. Swiney, C. Mayman.

Reserves The Reserves were looking at locking in a possible top spot heading into the finals as they were up against YCW Maiden Gully. The boys started well having the ball in their forward half but were inaccurate in front of goal. Things didn't go well for the next 3 quarters as the boys dropped off and YWC won by 3 points. Special mentions were Brad Fawcett, Dylan Tonkin, Matt Scott and Nathan Moon. The boys are now fired up to bounce back and have a good finals series. Final Scores: Pyramid Hill 6.8.44 lost to Maiden Gully YCW 47 Goals: M. Scott 2, J. Ritchie 1, G. Birt 1, C. Milroy 1, N. Moon 1. Pony Award: B. Fawcett. Egan Taylor Award: M. Scott. National Hotel Award: D. Tonkin. Victo-ria Hotel Award: N. Moon. Others: C. Driscoll, J. Hickmott, G. Birt, J. Douch, T. Woolhouse.

Seniors It was an interesting feeling in the change rooms with just 15 players for the team meeting. Injuries & unavailability’s were at a significant high for our final home & away game of the season, requiring 7 players to double up & play both reserves & seniors. The focus of the day was purely on effort as regardless of the result we had locked in 3rd spot on the ladder. We produced that effort early, our intensity around the footy was great, our pressure was high but YCW made the most of their chances inside 50 & led by 26 points at the main break. As expected, there were a few tired boys during the second half which meant we couldn’t provide a lot of run & carry. The Eagles showed their class & ran out 45 point winners in some shocking conditions – even a burst of hail. Hopefully, with the bye, our injured boys are right to go in two weeks as we prepare for our Qualifying Final clash, most likely against the Eagles again. Final Scores: Pyramid Hill 6.8.44 lost to Maiden Gully YCW 13.11.89.Goals: R. Thiesz 2, M. Cheeseman 2, A. Holland 1, C. Milroy 1. Egan Taylor Award: Gav James. Victoria Hotel Award: A. Holland. National Hotel Award: T. Sala. Others: B. Micevski, M. Cheeseman, P. Micevski, M. Bateman, A. Dobby, L. Carroll.
