Ruth Coppinger defends Connolly Hospital

The HSE are considering a serious curtailment of the A&E in ConnollyHospital which would lead to a drastic downgrade. These cuts must bestopped. Ruth has played a key role in launching Defend BlanchardstownHospital Campaign, involving the community and hospital staff.

We must organise to create huge pressure on Ministers Varadkar, Burtonand the Government. A victory or strong performance for Ruth Coppinger inthis By-Election, a long time supporter of the hospital, could force theGovernment to reverse the cuts.

There is no recovery - Austerity doesn't work!Unemployment, mortgage arrears and emigration are all up since Labour andFine Gael took power. Investment and consumption are down. We are paying theprice for the crisis but super rich bosses are getting richer. Just 300 Irish residentshave wealth of €57 billion. Public investment, not austerity could overcome thecrisis. That means using this wealth for peoples’ needs, instead this Governmentleaves wealth and profit untouched.

Don't pay the Household Tax - Fight the cuts The Household Tax will start at €100. However, Labour and Fine Gael want taxeson the home to rise quickly to over €1000 a year! People can't pay and shouldn'tpay. We need to organise to defeat this tax as we did with the Water Charges in1996.

Since June, Ruth Coppinger has helped organise two major public meetings andtwo protests at the Dail against the disgusting cuts imposed on Special NeedsAssistants and Resource Teachers. Organised "people power" must confront theGovernment so these cuts are reversed.
