STUDENT ACTIVITIES HIGHLIGHTS ~Vicki Hildreth, Activities Director
The 2019/2020 school year is underway, and the Activities Office is as busy as ever!
In September, our fall athletes will be spotlighted with a Fall Sports Pep Rally. We will also highlight South High’s 46 active clubs at our annual Club Day, giving them the opportunity to promote their endeavors and hopefully gain new members.
As always, October will prove to be an active month with Homecoming 2019 taking center stage. The selection of the Homecoming Court will kick off our Homecoming festivities which will include a lunchtime assembly to announce the Court, and Spirit Week activities involving dress up days and games. All the excitement and fun will build toward the Homecoming football game vs Torrance High on October 11th. During the big game, the Homecoming King & Queen will be crowned during the half-time show on the field. In addition, October will offer our ASB and Student Council members the opportunity to help raise awareness about the dangers of drug and alcohol use through our annual Red Ribbon Day.
We will then gear up for the months of November and December, which include our Canned Food Drive, Class Competition #1, Winter Drama Musical, annual Holiday Concert, Winter Dance Show, and our popular Head Start Program. As we look forward to these upcoming activities, we’d like to encourage our South High students to get involved in all that South High has to offer.
