April 2020

Hello everyone,

In this testing time, I hope everyone is safe and healthy.

Although I do not believe it is safe enough to have a physical

WHRC meeting yet. I invite everyone to contribute an article or

story to our newsletter. Although we can’t meet in person we

can still add to our knowledge by sharing each other’s geologi-

cal knowledge.

I would like to wish all our members a beautiful Passover

and Easter weekend. And as you celebrate the holidays don’t

forget that on April, Uncle Sam extended our tax due date.

May you all have a safe and healthy month.

Sagi Salomon

If anyone is missed, please let us know!

Thank you to everyone that has volunteered to bring refreshments to our meetings. We will make adjustments as necessary if and when it is safe to schedule our meetings. We hope everyone stays safe and happy meanwhile.

The Refreshment Chairman is Shanna O’Brien

Hi, everyone, this is John reporting in for Ways and Means. As you know, things are going to be shut down for a while, and we won't be having any meetings. Now might be a good time to go through old stuff and look for possible donations for the raffles or silent auctions, when we resume activities. Anyway, it's something to do. Take care and stay safe, eve-ryone - and we hope to see you soon.

Library Library is closed while the Covid-19 crisis continues. We will reopen when we can have meetings again.

Gary Levitt [email protected] April 2020

I have heard that Zzyzx will be canceled due to the pandemic. Formal updates with

respect to this info will be out shortly. Be aware that we will hear more about this

soon.

Our monthly meetings are on hold until kids are back in school.

Any youth who would like to work on their badges can do so via email or phone to

me. More news when we get it.

Special Note To all members and friends of the Rock Chippers Because of the virulence of the Corona virus, government scientists have suggested the public cur-tail its spread by cancelling non-essential social gatherings of 25 or more people. To assure the safety of our members, our President has cancelled the March 21st general meeting. We hope to reschedule our guest speakers Dick and Mary Patt Weber for a future date when possi-ble. The class for this Saturday on Polymer Clay is still scheduled for the very small group who signed up. We will keep in touch via our emails and web site pages for the time when we can resume normal meetings. We urge all to follow the safety suggestions offered by government leaders, especially frequent washing of hands with soap and water. Thank you for your understanding.

Woodland Hills Rock Chippers, Incorporated

Our organization, a non-profit corporation, was formed for educational and instructive purposes: to foster collection and study of minerals, to disseminate knowledge about them, to sponsor field trips to find them, to encourage the use of them in lapidary and faceting studies, etc. And to have one whale of a good time doing those things with all of our friends. Regular meetings are held on the 3rd Saturday of each month at 7:00 p.m. Re-freshments are at 6:30 p.m. Field trips are at various times throughout the month. Guests are always welcome to attend. Membership is open to interested applicants after they have attended at least two meetings. Annual dues are due in November for the following year.
