NEW MBA PROGRAM IN MEDIA MANAGEMENT
APC approved the new MBA program in Media Management. We will be offering a Special
Topic Course in Media this upcoming fall semester.
ACCOUNTING BUSINESS FIELD TRIP
From Left to Right in Picture: Nazifa Alam, Yalin Chen, Miguel Santiago, Michael Scrocco (background), Meredith Ward
(foreground), Paul Scrocco, Dylan Holderness, Fernando Medina and Adjunct Professor Frank DeCandido. Trevor Loveland
attended but was not available for the picture. Barbara Bellesi, Assistant Director Employer Relations for the Center of
Academic and Career Engagement took the picture.
On Friday, April 26th, 2013, Adjunct Professor Frank DeCandido and nine Accounting students
visited the offices of Deloitte and Touche LLP at 225 Liberty Street, 2 World Financial Center in
New York City. The students included Yalin Chen, Meredith Ward, Michael Scrocco, Miguel
Santiago, Trevor Loveland, Paul Scrocco, Nazifa Alam, Dylan Holderness, and Fernando
Medina. Barbara Bellesi, Assistant Director Employer Relations for the Center of Academic and
Career Engagement, also joined the group on its trip. The host from Deloite and Touche LLP
was Joseph Delaney, former Managing Partner. The students were given presentations by staff
accountants Meredith Mazzari and Anika Ahmed, as well as Senior Audit Manager Joseph
Delaney and Project Controller. Topics covered were internships, interview skills, CPA Exam
and career advice. Adjunct Professor DeCandido hopes that this field trip will be a yearly event
and will lead to more opportunities at the accounting firm of Deloitte and Touche, LLP for
Wagner students.

GLOBAL COMPETITIVE STUDY TRIP
The ACCMBA group visited Iceland, Russia,
Scandinavia and the Baltic states in May. Upon
arriving in Iceland, the students toured an immense
geothermal plant and learned from the marketing
director that much of the entire country is heated in
this way. In Denmark, an extensive tour was
conducted of the shipping and naval ports.
Rostock in the former East Germany proved to be
an exciting stop as the students viewed an
astronomical clock dating back to 1610. The clock
is accurate to the year, month, day, hour and
minute. It is one of the few remaining in the world.
The walled portion of Tallinn, Estonia was a
throwback to the Middle Ages. The guide
explained that after achieving independence from Russia 16 years ago, it has been on a fast break
to catch up with the rest of the EU countries.
St. Petersburg's subway was a marvel with its mosaic tiled walls and cleanliness. The two
businesses the students visited were modern with excellent customer service. The students were
given a rare treat: the opportunity to venture through a commercial district on their own for an
hour. St. Iassac's cathedral was covered in gold and frescos. It was spectacular.
Helsinki was a mixture of modern and historic
architecture with a church carved into rock being one of
the highlights.
Stockholm's Vasa museum contained a 17th century 16
gun ship. The museum was at least two times the size of
the Wagner gym. Breaktaking!
The students expressed gratitude for being afforded the
opportunity to visit places they might never go to on their
own.

The Multiple Sclerosis Walk

The Multiple Sclerosis Walk sponsored by the Accounting Society, raised money for Dr. Jim
Michael, former Management Professor who left the college due to the ravages of the Multiple
Sclerosis disease in 2008.

WAGNER COLLEGE RINGS NYSE CLOSING BELL
On Tuesday, March 23, Wagner College President Richard Guarasci rang the closing bell at the
New York Stock Exchange to celebrate the raising of $50 million in the largest campaign ever
conducted in the school’s history: “Putting Wagner First.”
President Guarasci was accompanied at the Stock Exchange by several of Wagner’s key donors
and friends who helped to make this milestone in the school’s history possible.
“Putting Wagner First: The Campaign for Wagner College” was launched in October 2007 with
a gala event in the Great Hall at New York City’s Ellis Island. It has been the most ambitious —
and most successful — fundraiser in Wagner’s history.
“The future of this gem of a college is in our hands,” said President Guarasci of the campaign.
“We can take comfort in our achievements and rest on our laurels — a sure path to mediocrity —
or we can find the resources to leverage these accomplishments, endow them, and further shape
this very special college to better serve the students who choose to study here, the faculty who
come here to teach, and our alumni, who are living what they have learned here in their personal
and professional lives.”
