I remember how I was coming in that weekend without having met the staff or most of the congregation. Also, I remember the warm reception that Lisa, Logan, Caleb (just 6 months old at the time!) and I received that day. I do not know how else to explain the last year except to say that God is good. Both St. Luke’s and my family were in a time of transition, and it seemed like from day one - and I don’t say this lightly - God was at work. As a congregation, we have seen many blessings this year. We celebrated our 50th year of ministry. It was amazing to walk through the memorabilia room, to celebrate our 50th and my installation with over 450 people, to enjoy two special musical worship experiences, and to have 491 volunteers pack over 108,000 meals in our Oasis building through Feed My Starving Children. We welcomed our new Business Director, Kathy. She has helped make many improvements, which ultimately enable us to be good stewards of what God has given us and begin to make plans for the future. Her retired-pastor -husband, Chuck, has also become involved in many ways at St. Luke’s. We have also entered a new situation - leasing our school building to Learning Foundation. This provides a significant source of income as well as the opportunity to reach out to the staff, students, and families of Pre-K to 2nd graders on our campus. Overall, we’ve seen a 6% increase in worship attendance and an 18% increase in giving. I am aware that this last year was not perfect, nor will the road be any easier going forward, but I am excited to see what God has in store for us this next year. Most of all, I’d like to personally share how much Lisa and I have enjoyed becoming part of this great church community of faith. We were strangers just a year ago, but because of the warmth of the people of St. Luke’s we now feel like part of the family. It means a lot to us and we are truly thankful. A Year In Review

It is hard to believe that just over a year ago, on July 2, 2011 I was preaching my first sermon at St. Luke’s.

Message from our Nurse...

For years, we’ve been told to clean cuts with

hydrogen peroxide or iodine. But here’s a

surprise for you: Doing so can actually slow

the healing process. That’s because while

hydrogen peroxide and iodine kill bacteria, they also destroy

skin cells

Here’s what to do instead: First, wash the cut out with warm

water. (Don’t use soap, which can hurt.) Then

apply a thin coat of bacitracin, which can be found in over-

the-counter ointments. Finally, cover the wound with a ban-

dage. This keeps the area moist and prevents scabbing,

which slows healing and can increase the risk of scarring.

Peroxide on a Cut

Handbell Workshops

Monday Nights

August 22 & 29 from 7:00—8:30 PM

St Luke Worship Center

The purpose of the workshop is to ‘get back into the ring of things’ before

the new season starts up in September, and also to introduce others to the

art of handbell ringing.

NOW’S YOUR CHANCE! COME AND JOIN US !

If you have any questions, contact Kim Cramer or

any member of the Bells of St Luke.

The Learning Foundation

staff is beginning their move

into the Early Childhood Cen-

ter. Room 203 and 204 are

now full of books, desks and

many other items. TLC will move out of room 202 at the

end of July. School will start on August 8 for Learning

Foundation (LF) students. LF signs are on Stapley—one

on the wall and one flying in the wind. Our three dump-

sters have been relocated further east on our property to

allow for easy passage of students between St. Luke and

the LF Campus to the north. We at St. Luke welcome the

Learning Foundation staff and students and wish them a

great year in their new location.

The Director, John Yoccabel, called the meeting to order. Pastor Hennings opened the meeting with prayer. There were 56 voting members in attendance. The following people signed to become voting members: Chuck Paulson, Kathy Paulson, Kristi Cleasby, Rick Cleasby, Cathy Mata, Lisa Hennings, and Joyce Wood. A motion was made and seconded to accept them as voting members. Carried.

Pastor Hennings presented a PowerPoint presenta-tion, which included a motion by the council. The motion from the council was:

“In view of our current bookkeeper’s value to our organization and high level of capability, it is recommended that a new ‘business director’ position be created, and that our current bookkeeper fill this new position. This position will include all of the current bookkeeper responsibilities as well as responsibilities for managing our business relationships and facility tenants.”

Discussion and questions were answered after the presentation.

The motion was voted on and carried. The vote was unanimous.

Pastor Hennings closed the meeting with prayer and the meeting was adjourned at 1215.

Respectfully submitted

Voter’s Meeting Minutes June 24, 2012

"And one thing God does is to make us stand in

awe of him." Ecclesiastes 3:14b GNT

If you haven't done so lately, I would en-

courage you to take some time to stand in

awe of God. How can you do that? Here

are a few suggestions....You could spend

time in God's word marveling at his

amazing love shown to us in Jesus Christ

and the forgiveness he offers (by yourself

or as part of a small group). You could look out on a cloudy,

or partly cloudy day, and be amazed by the clouds. You

could watch some children simply having fun. There are so

many more ways, just use you imagination. I believe the most

important thing is to just take some time and focus on God's

blessings to us. It just might make the other times better.
