Once there lived a freezing poor town. It was a cold town but some-

thing happened long ago. It was spring but since horrible magic did

something it was covered with snow. There were two friends that

wanted to stop it, they were so brave that they would go into the

freezing winter to save their town. First they had to find out what

they were going to do. So they read and found out the the answer

from the eternal winter . They had to chase away the winter. But

how? They read ’’go into the most coldest part. You will see the

happy summer fun fairy. She will make the a special pig for you it

will melt the winter. then there will be no more winter but take care

of the pig if this happens again. Then go to the most driest part of

your land. There you will see the fall troll. He’s friendly. He will

make the a magical leaf that will make the summer a little colder. It

will take of the leafs and put them on the ground. Finally go to the

spring ruler she will make a magical flower that will give you your

wish. Wish for the spring and spring will come to your poor town

and turn into a happy town’’. So they set off, put on their coat and

went to the cold part. When they got there they asked the fairy if

they could make the special pig. She said okay. She gave them the

pig and they made summer. Then they went to the driest part they

saw the the fall troll he gave them the leaf and they made the fall.

They went to the windiest part and saw the spring fairy she gave

them the flower and they wished for it and it became spring. And

they had fun with family and friends and were not poor any more

just because from there four friends. They did spring clean up and

then it was winter again and they used the pig again and then they

they lived happily ever after!

SPRING STORY

By Anthony

Grade 3

There once was a person named Bob. He loved spring. His whole

entire classroom went outside. Because it was really hot out. The sun

was shining and the flowers were growing while the wind was blowing.

Then he ate a lot of candy and went crazy. He was bouncing off the

walls. He was SPRINGING everywhere.

Then the teacher said “HEY! what do you think you are doing?”

“Uh I don’t know,” said Bob.

Then the teacher said to herself “ That’s why you don’t spring

around in the spring!!”

Tree That Loved Spring

By Abby

Grade 4

Today is a wonderful day. It is the first day of spring. I have finally

woke up after a while. Let me tell you my story. But first let me introduce myself

I am May. I have a sister. You will laugh when you hear her name. It is April and

my name is May, can you see the resemblance we are both named after months so

actually are names are both funny but don’t laugh at me me.

Also this is a wonderful day because ever since I had too go too sleep for a while,

this is the first day I got to wake up. It’s been a while. So I need all of my basic

needs right now. My basic needs are air, food, water and shelter.

Here is my story I will need to make all of my basic needs I will meet them by

looking around me and making sure I have them. Also, I have adaptations such as,

going to sleep during the winter and that stinks because I hate winter I have too go

To sleep that is not fair. In the winter my leaves fall out so when I go to sleep I don't

look pretty so I like spring because that is when I look pretty. Plus I need too look pretty for my friends birthday

party. Her name is March. Also Blossom is coming she is my friends. So me March, Blossom, and April are all

going to the party.

Today is the day of the birthday party. Blossom is bringing the food mostly chips and dip, April is bring water and

other drinks, March is bringing the shelter, and I am bringing air these are all our basic needs.

Also I have instincts such as regrowing my leaves after the winter. And going to sleep in the winter, also waking

up after the winter. My friends March, April, and Blossum have the same instincts.

You know what I have too get ready too the party. I will have a lot of fun. Well instead of you leaving and not

knowing how the party went you can come with. Ok lets go.

Hi March happy birthday. “ Thank You this party will be awesome only because I am here. Oh my goodness you

are so self centered. Ok now lets play some games. Lets have a relay race I will win. Oh no you won't I will.

Ready Set Go! ! ! Wow look at them go so fast., In the end March won the race I know I can't believe it but she did

call it. See you on my next adventure.

When will it be SPRING?!

Narrator- Far, Far away the Earth tilts away from the sun causing the days to be colder and shorter.

This cold season is known as winter.

Grandma - When will it be warm enough for me to go outside and knit?!

Young girl - When will I get to play with my friends and run outside?

Gardener- When will i get to go outside and pick flowers?!

Man - When will I get to play football with my friends?

Everybody- When will it be spring !

Young girl- Why is it so cold?

Gardener- Well sweetie, the Earth doesn’t get enough sunlight right now so it’s cold.

Young girl- Why don’t we all just push the Earth to the sun?!

Gardener- Well sweetie, I don’t think we’re strong enough.

Young Girl- Why don’t we try?

Narrator- So everybody tried all their efforts to push the Earth. They set off firecrackers and walked to

the edge hoping their weight would push the Earth. But all their efforts failed and it remained cold. So

they all went back inside.

Narrator- Next morning the sun came up and everybody was surprised. When they walked outside it

was warm.

Gardener- I can finally pick my flowers!

Young Girl- I can finally play with my friends!

Grandma- I can finally knit outside!

Man- I get to play football!

All- It’s finally spring!!! They lived happily ever after

A bird’s journey

A bird’s diary

My family and me were going for north for vacation. We wanted to spend the spring with

my grandmother. Everyone were going somewhere for spring break in my class. At home my

dad and me were packing safely and were packing stuff for the new baby that was like a

stranger to the house. At night, we took off and started to fly toward the north.

On our journey I mostly watched my sister growing up, I saw how she used her instincts in

useful ways , how she used her learned behavior in useful ways, and how she ate and she

breathed and found her shelter (meeting her basic needs).

March 20th My sister started out from breaking free from her egg. When she came out she told me how

tired she got pushing the egg! This is an instinct because she knew this since birth. After that

my sister slept, since the journey needed lots of rest, that is a instinct, she knew how to sleep

since birth.

March 23rd

My sister learned how to fly today. She passed with flying marks. She did so good. This is a

learned behavior, because she learned how to fly from my mom. After that, me and my sister

had a race on flying, and my sister won. The prize was another juicy worm, my mom has a

good taste on picking worms. My sister was really happy, I am glad.

March 30th My sister uses basic needs. My sister’s instincts told her how to build a nest. This morning

we started making a nest and then made that our clubhouse. When we grow up we will have

to make a nest for shelter. Every living thing on earth breathes to get air. We breath from our

beakes. Fish breath from their gills. Humans breath from their noses. Every living thing also

has a unique way to breath. My sister get’s feed juicy worms my mom picks out from the

forest. My mom picks out the best worms! This way my sister get’s food. My sister get’s wa-

ter by digging in the ground.

April 1st The first day of spring and the last day of my diary. I am so sad! I will miss you diary. I have

also reached the north! I am very excited to see my grandmother. I have not seen her for

months because of the winter. Now I am going. Bye for the last time.

The Twins Spring :)

By Paige & Mia

Grade 4

“PAIGE!!!!” Yelled Mia. “WHAT!!!” Paige yelled back. “I can’t believe it’s

Spring”!!! Mia said happily. “ Is that really what you had to say to me while I was doing

my homework”!? Paige said really upset. “ I thought you liked Spring though? That is

why I said that!” Said Mia thinking that Paige was upset with her. “Do you want to go to

the pool”? Paige asked Mia. Then, Mia responded

“NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO”!!!!!!!! “Why not”! Paige questioned

Mia. “Because I am going to be making a Spring writing of all about the awesome things

we got in last spring”. Mia replied. “Wooh that sounds fun, let me do it with you, and

then after we write it we can do all those fun things again”. Paige spoke. Then, the twins

went to work on their writing about all the best memories they got into last

Spring. “Finally we are done”. Mia said. “Now we can do all the good things again but

didn’t we go to the pool?” Wondered Paige confused. “That’s right, Lets go to the pool.”

Mia remembered. When they got to the pool. They saw there best friend Katie!!! Kaite was

funny, kind, smart and always was respectful even if someone was mean to her she would

kill them with kindness!!! “HEY KATIE!!!!” Yelled Paige happy to see her at the pool!

And Mia was even happier to see Katie because all the nice things Paige said about Katie,

Mia agreed about all those good things. Then, Mia’s friend Justyna walked into the

pool. “ Hi Justyna”!!! Mia shouted to Justyna. After, Justyna respond” Hi Mia”!!! Then,

Mia looked at Paige and Paige had a dirty look on her face. Mia thought what is up. After,

Paige walked up to Mia and said to her “What are u doing”? “It’s Spring”. Mia said out

loud. Mia started singin “ It’s Spring”!! “It’s Spring”!!! “ We have fun together because

Spring is here”!!! “It’s Spring”!!! Then, everyone started clapping for Mia even Ka-

tie. Katie knew Mia didn’t like her but then everything changed, Mia smiled at Katie and

Justyna. Katie looked at Justyna. Justyna looked at Katie and Paige looked at every-

one. You could tell they all were best friends and Mia liked Katie now and Paige like

Justyna. The girls all swam together in the pool and loved being together. They played

marco polo, they had a swimming race, and they even went to the snack bar when they

were finished!!! They had fun at the snack bar and pool. When they were done they went

to Mia and Paige’s house and had a sleepover.

They did this every week during Spring, because they are best friends. Usually, Just Katie

and Paige did it together, and Mia and Justyna, but this time they did it together. The four

girls called it “The Super Fun Spring Sleepovers”. At Mia and Paige’s house they jumped

on their parents bed, they watched a scary movie and they ate popcorn while they

saw.... “Terror Of Spring.” It was so scary they had to turn it of on the 10th sentence. So

they watched “How Spring became awesome.” By Arnold Robert. There favorite movie

director. Then they went to bed and told ghost stories. This is what Katie told, but it ended

up being funny some ghost stories aren’t always scary. Justyna said to the girls “ Spring is

a great season”. THE END!!!!

The Banana One day, a Banana named “Banana” was walking through a fac-tory. He saw cupcakes, doughnuts, cakes, coffee, brownies, cookies, and...and...and bananas getting squished!!! They were getting put on to the cakes! Bananas getting squished! “AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA” Bananas getting sliced! “AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA” Bananas getting eaten! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA” Oh no. What if they find out that one of the bananas rolled away and they grab me and I get to be part of the “Banana cycle of get-ting eaten” Here’s how I say it would go: Step 1: Panic Step 2: Try to roll while they try to chop you then they’ll slice the table open and then you get the chance to run. Step 3: Help your other “Banana friends” get down from the

“Terrible, horrible no place a banana wants to be table.” Step 4: Never come to the place you went to where they chopped bananas, and run till you're 100 miles from that place. There. Does that make you want to be a banana? Is that enough for you? Anyways, I’ll give you some more things that are bad about bananas. They even sometimes rot. That shows a banana is getting old. Usually they start to rot when they're about 45 years old. Those big guys really big guys, they think it takes them 4-5 weeks till they start to rot! That’s not a long time for us bananas. Well, my banana friends are calling me now. Bye and you big guys don’t squish us a lot because right now we bananas are coming back. Remember that. We’re making a comeback.

Grade 5 One Spring day Scarlet went over to Victoria’s house to plant flowers. While Victoria was in her garden

she found a caterpillar and she named it Bumblebee. Scarlet came out of the house and asked what she

was holding.” I found a caterpillar and I thought that we could name it Bumblebee since he is yellow

and black!” “ Thats a great name! Oh and by the way I have to go home now, bye and thanks for the

flowers!” Once the girls were gone the caterpillar started to move and soon it was summer the caterpil-

lar moved an inch and went to summer! The caterpillar got hot “ Ouch! this is not the weather I want to

be in its too hot!” Then the season changed to Fall and he loved it. “ Now this is a little chilly and

Spring is when I build my cocoon but its Fall! This is not the weather I want to be in either!” He moved

an inch again and it changed to Winter and Winter is really really cold! “ Burrrrrrr! Its too cold! I will

never survive this cold! This is no weather for a caterpillar like me!” Back at home Victoria was worried

she didn't know where her caterpillar was! “Bumblebee! Bumblebee! Where are you!” Victoria yelled.

Later the caterpillar found himself in Spring! Yay I’m back in Spring where I belong!

When Will It Be Spring

by Himakshee

Once upon a time there were some animals. Their names were Fana the Fish, Bri-

ana the Bear, and last but not least Lily the Leopard. They all loved spring. But one

day some leaves started falling to the ground. ALL the animals were so surprised.

They had never seen such a thing. So Lily the Leopard and Brianna the Bear went

to see the wise old owl. The wise old owl told them that it was going to be fall

soon. The animals never heard of the season spring. So the wise old owl told them

there are 4 seasons summer, winter, spring, and fall. All the animals asked when

would it be spring again? The wise old owl said that you will have to wait until

after summer, fall and winter. So the animals waited and waited till one of the

animals said that they thought they saw that it was spring. But the animal was

wrong spring did not come it was still fall. But then one day Brianna the Bear came

out of her cave after a big nap, she yelled it is spring! It is spring! All the animals

came out of their dens, caves and nests. Briana was correct. All the animals

cheered.

I don’t really need oxygen. I need carbon dioxide. Which is what comes out when a human

exhales. Then I make the air for the people.

I don’t really need shelter either. I live outdoors. That’s just the way I like it.

I rely on the sun for my food. I can produce my own food as well. Humans also give me

food. They give me fertilizer.

Boy!! Have I got a ton of work to come. I have to bud. I have to bloom my leaves. I have to

produce the sap that I make annually. Then I shall repeat this process the rest of my life,

which is probably going to be a very looooong time. =)

Beautiful Spring

One day , I the little cute bird flew across the beautiful land of peace and nature. I’m coming to-

wards the equator because up north its starting to be winter so I am traveling across the world to a

warm area with lots of food. I was going to a big tree so I can see if there are any worms inside it.

I pecked at the tree and suddenly he said “OW!” I said sorry I thought you had a worm that I can

eat. So then I just flew off the tree and searched the ground for worms.

I was very lucky that I found a worm on the ground and I ate it. It was delicious! Now I am going

to get some sticks so I can go to sleep.

The next morning I flew around in a neighborhood. I made a friend. His name is John. He is a hu-

man and I am friends with a human because he gave me seeds to eat and they were delicious. He

even asked if i wanted a M&M. I nodded and I ate one and it was so good. I also moved my nest

next to his house. I am now a happy bird with a friend in spring.

The Tree That loves Spring!

“AWwwwwwww” I yawned. Today Is the first day of spring and today is the day to start life with again.

But first I need to make sure that I introduce myself. My name is April. But please don’t make fun of me

and my sister. Since my sisters name is May and mine is April are names are months but just please don’t

make fun of are names please it would be awesome if you didn’t.

Since I said that I have to start life with from the fall I have to make sure that I have all basic needs

around me. Air, Check! Water, Check! Food, check! And shelter, check! All ready to go! So let’s get go-

ing!

Oh, since I’m a pretty beautiful tree. I need to make sure that I tell you what I do during the winter so you

know what’s going on. And by the way I really hate winter because I really like spring because as you

know my name is April. But back to the topic, some adaptations I have during the winter is so my leaves

fall off which I really, really hate because that makes me uglier. And another is that I sleep during the

winter which makes me sad because then I miss All my friends. And maybe let’s add in some instincts

just for fun. Like maybe growing more bark in the fall to keep me more warm during the winter. And an-

other instinct is growing my leaves back in the spring which is my favorite.

Oh my gosh I’m talking so much and I have to stop because I will be late to my BFFS birthday party and

my BFFS name is March! So gotta go! well let’s go on a adventure together and now decide do you want

to come with me?! Yes! Please!

So now we are at March’s party so much fun so far! I hope I you enjoyed coming with me and also I hope

you really enjoyed reading this letter about my story on the first day of spring! And I know I have quite

pleasent and joyful times everyday with my friends! And do you know why? It’s because I try to live each

year the fullest I can! Bye!

The Bird That Came Home in the North

Now that winter is over I need to go back north. 2 days later now I am home

and with my family. I have all of my needs I have water from the pond , shelter

in my nest, food from the crumbs in the park to.

AAAAAAHHHHHHH! a hawk passed by.

I survived the winter by staying in this tree hole. Down in the south it was very comfortable it was really hot so every

time I felt a breeze I went outside.

I liked it because it was enough space to fit three birds big birds.

I was kind a sad because I missed my family and I missed my friends to.

So I guess I am happy to be with my family and friends.

Life Standing There

“Life just standing there. It is just so harsh. My brother is Groot. He can only say “I’m Groot” he always says it.. I never

understand him. It is always is a different meaning every time he says it. I need to live. So I need to follow basic needs to

help me to survive in harsh winters. I also have many adaptations that help me survive.”

“All my basic needs help me live. Ba Bam.”

“One of them is water. It helps me drink. I really need water to survive. I need to drink. I really want to live.”

“I wish that all these healthy souls would water me so I can live.”

“Get me water”

“Another one basic need for me is food.”

“People think that I am weird so they don’t feed me.”

“Oh Hi Groot. Nice to see you. I am just telling them about our basic needs.”

“I’m Groot.”

“He said another basic need is air. We get this basic need from other plants and humans we give them oxygen. To make

Them Live. They breath out carbon dioxide. which makes us live.”

“I’m Groot.”

“He said yes.”

“My brother’s friend is Rocket.”

“I also have many adaptations that I have to follow.”

“I adapt making my leaves fall off.”

“It helps me live during winters.”

“Another adaptation I use is letting birds come on me.”

“I like birds coming upon me.”

“So after all I am just a tree. But life just standing there it is just so harsh. All these souls in the world why can’t they

keep us alive. Only some do. Try not to cut us down. We give you life. We give you air. Be thankful for us. I have many

adaptations and basic needs.”

Spring

Today is Friday it is the first day of spring today is the day when all plants grow like me. Hi

my name is Sky. I am a tree. Today I am complaining because today there was snow this morning

and I hate when it cold like winter. Well Today I am going to be talking about the basic needs that I

need to survive and also behavior I learned during that time.

First off let me talk about the basic needs I need. These are air, water, shelter, and food. The

reason why I need these needs are because if are don’t have air or water I won’t be able to breath and

I won’t be able to grow without water. The reason I said that a basic need for a tree would be shelter

is because trees give other animals a home to keep them warm in the winter. The last thing I need is

food is because the food that comes from the roots give it to me so I could get all the nutrients I need.

Next trees have adaptations to survive in the winter trees must have adaptations to survive the

cold and drying conditions of winter. Trees like me cannot change their location or behavior like ani-

mals can, so they must rely on physiological and structural adaptations.

Trees learn behaviors during the winter that their and mine leaves fall because of all the wind.

Also that there is a lot of nesting so that the birds keep them warm. Also many animals climb on

them like snakes, bears, and monkeys. Some instincts that trees have are experience with the same

things like one experience they have is that I know I am a shelter to other animals.

Summing up, trees have a lot of facts to learn so if you are someone that is interested of read-

ing more about spring just go in your library I know they will be willing to help you find a great book

to read.

How I Come Back to Life in the Spring

Hello my name is Jasmine. I grow beautiful jasmine flowers on my branches. This

spring I just came back to life from the harsh winter. It made me lose all flowers!

Listen closely then I will tell you about my life.

Last fall I had to shed all my leaves and flowers for the winter. I wasn’t too happy

then! That is an instinct I have. That means I am born with it. I am not taught how

to shed my leaves.

Then I was hibernating mostly all winter but sometimes if I am thirsty I drank wa-

ter stored in my roots. It was very scary in the winter but I survived through it. Fi-

nally spring came and I got my beautiful flowers back! When I didn’t have my

leaves and flowers it felt like I was naked!!!!

Overall my life is pretty ok. I hope another scary winter never comes in a long

time long

Chung-Chung the Bird

Once there was a bird. His name was Chung-Chung.

“Hi my name is Chung-Chung . I will be telling this

story” said Chung-Chung.

“Hey Chung-Chung want to go catch some worms”

said Billy-Bob-Joe.

“That is my friend Billy-Bob-Joe” said Chung-Chung. “It is hard to be a bird.”

“Dude do you want to catch worms or not?” said Billy-Bob-Joe!

“Let me finish talking and I’ll answer you” said Chung-Chung! “As I was saying it is hard to

be a bird. You need to do a lot of things. You need to go to a lake to get water. You need to

build a nest to live in. You need air. And you need food” said Chung-Chung.

“I prefer worms” said Billy-Bob-Joe.

“Shut-up and let me talk” said Chung-Chung! “I go to the lake to get my water and for my

food I usually go to that house right next to the river and get the free bird seed they leave out

just for me. And if they don’t leave the bird seed out I go and catch worms” said Chung-

Chung. “For air all I need to do is breath. And I will just make a nest with mud and twigs to

build shelter” said Chung-Chung.

“Now can we please go catch worms” begged Billy-Bob-Joe.

“Yep” said Chung-Chung.

And off they went to catch worms.
