The wharves are supported bysteel piling of varying types andsizes, piling on the older wharveswere protected by typical marinecoating systems while the morerecently constructed wharveshave piling coated with a factoryapplied polyethylene material.Ongoing maintenance wasrequired particularly with the
older, painted piles.A decision was made toinvestigate alternative meansof protecting the various typesof piling at this location and aftertrialling various options theSeashield 80 system waschosen. This system consistedof Petrolatum Primer and Tapeoverwrapped with PVC backed

The contractors for the projectwere Advanced EngineeringSolutions Ltd of Cramlington.Their craftsmanship andexpertise at applying the DensoSteelcoat 400 and 700 Systemsdemonstrates the fact that thesystems can give an attractivefinish as well as providingexcellent corrosion prevention.
After wire brushing to removeprevious coatings, thecontractors applied DensoHi-Tack Primer to all surfaces,Denso Profiling Mastic to theflange joints and then DensoHi-Tack Tape followed by DensoUltraseal Tape to both the pipejoints and barrels using55% overlap.
Finally two coats of DensoAcrylic Topcoat were appliedover the Denso Ultraseal Tape.
The anti-vandal guards werecoated with the Steelcoat 700System which comprises twocoats of Denso ST Epoxyfollowed by a coat of DensoWeathershield to give itextra ultra violet resistance.

Corrosion Prevention for Buried Jet Fuel Pipelines - Canada
This was the situation nearToronto Pearson InternationalAirport over the past winter andone perfectly suited for DensoProtal 7125. Toronto PearsonInternational Airport is Canada’slargest and busiest airport, serving 40% of all airline traffic inCanada. Pearson Internationalprovides air service to over 140destinations in 45 countriesaround the world and hasrecently added a new terminalto better handle their 31,000,000annual passengers.
With the new airport terminalnow in place, there was a needfor additional offsite jet fuel tanksand the associated pipingrequired to carry fuelapproximately 5kms into theairport. Field repairs and girthwelds being coated at minus15°C were protected usingDenso Protal 7125. The 7125

The projectcontinues on now through thesummer with 100’s of lengths ofDenso Protal 7250 protectedpipe being installed. The pipeline installation has alsoprovided approximately 1000
Construction in Canada provides some unique cold weatherchallenges that limit a large portion of liquid coatingscurrently on the market. As contractors struggle with trying tocomplete projects in a timely fashion they must deal with lessthan favorable application temperatures that continually slowdown job progress and cost more money to finish.

Corrosion Prevention of Roof Steelwork - Republic of South Africa
RBM uses an ingeniousdredge mining operation toextract and separate the heavyminerals ilmenite, rutile andzircon (about 5% in volume)from the sand.
A large artificial freshwaterpond is created in the dunes onwhich they float the dredger andconcentrator plant, burrowinginto the mining face of the dune.
As the sand face isundermined, it collapses into thepond forming a slurry which issucked up and pumped to afloating concentrator.
At this point, the heavyminerals are separated fromthe sand using a gravity processand stockpiled as heavy mineralconcentrate (HMC) fortransportation to the smelter site.
Due to this process as well as

the coastal environment, corrosion is a serious concern. To combat this, the Steelcoat400 System was selected toprotect the roof structure of thedredger, as at the highest pointthe structure is exposed to theprevailing winds and salt sea air.

These services includeelectric and water supplies, flood management, water andwastewater utilities, public parksalong the Highland Lakes andlower Colorado River, andcommunity and economicdevelopment services to ruraland suburban communities. Many of the LCRA facilities havepipe, tanks and various steelstructures that operate in ahighly corrosive environment.
LCRA Sweating AmmoniaTanks Protected With Denso Hi-Tack Tape
Corrosion protection for 2 largeammonia tanks (10 ft tall x 40 ftlong) at their Bastrop facility hadbeen a continual battle due toconstant sweating. After manyyears of painting the tanks (every3 to 5 years), the LCRAengineers selected the DensoHi-Tack Tape coating forlong-term corrosion protection.
The scope of the workincluded hand tool cleaning the
