Dear Residents,

I hope this finds all of you doing well and being safe! What a turn of events. Upon writing my first draft of this Mayor’s letter one and a half weeks ago, I was planning on making sure you had your calendars marked for the Easter Egg Hunt and the Arbor Day Celebration. Now, my only concern is for everyone’s safety and well-being during this Pandemic and practicing good social distancing. With that being said, we have decided to cancel the Easter Egg Hunt and postpone the Arbor Day Celebration till fall. We are hopeful that the Coronavirus will be behind us in the next month or two, so we are leaving our plans in place for the St. Regis Park day at the Bats game on Sunday, June 7th. Obviously, if things aren’t better by then, that would need to be rescheduled as well. There are a handful of citizens that have volunteered to run errands (grocery, pharmacy, etc.) for other citizens if someone can’t or doesn’t feel comfortable going out during this crisis. Please call the city at 502-654-8145 and leave a message on the recorded line or send an email to [email protected]. If you have a true emergency, call 911. Councilman Craig Theis put this information out today via REACH Alert, while Councilwoman Cheryl Willet included it on her Blockwatch email and Councilman DJ Fountain put it on Facebook. I am SO thankful for all three of those communication options. They can get timely, valuable information into your hands much quicker than this newsletter. If you aren’t signed up for Reach Alert, Blockwatch Email, or Facebook, please contact city hall at the phone number and/or email listed above and we’ll make sure we reach out to help you get that accomplished.

Last, but not least, as of now, we are planning on holding the April City Council meeting on Tuesday April 7th, 7:00 PM via Video Conferencing only. Obviously, things are changing daily and we are in unprecedented times. So, if we need to cancel the April meeting as the time gets closer, we will reach out via Reach Alert, Blockwatch Email and Facebook, since there won’t be another newsletter between now and then.We will continue to monitor the situation and communicate early and often regarding any updated information we receive.Remember, the City of St. Regis Park is a great place to live.
