I am an agricultural educator by choice and not by chance.I believe in American agriculture; I dedicate my life to its

development and the advancement of its people.I will strive to set before my students by my deeds and

actions the highest standards of citizenship for the community, state and nation.

I will endeavor to develop professionally through study, travel and exploration.

I will not knowingly wrong my fellow teachers. I will defend them as far as honesty will permit.

I will work for the advancement of agricultural education and I will defend it in my community, state and nation.

I realize that I am a part of the school system. I will work in harmony with school authorities and other

teachers of the school. My love for youth will spur me on to impart something from

my life that will help make for each of my students a full and happy future.

The curiousness of minnow traps placed in a slough near his home launched Trapper’s agribusiness SAE in the Natural Resources Systems Pathway. Trapper’s minnow trapping business has developed into a professional relationship and a friendship with Thelma, an 83-year-old lady, bait shop owner, and mentor. Trapper started his minnow trapping business in 2018 with 11 traps. He grew his business to 25 traps and the sale of 60 gallons of minnows per year. Trapper’s small business SAE has taught him about licensing, regulations, taxes, time management, seasonal demand in markets, building relationships, minnow health, and many aspects of fish and water ecosystems. Trapper’s SAE is diversified with a placement position with Carrington House Moving, where he assists in moving houses, barns, and sheds. Trapper is a member of the Carrington FFA Chapter. His advisor is Mrs. Missy Hansen. Trapper plans to attend Iowa State University in the fall, majoring in Aerospace Engineering. Depew’s parents are Troy Depew and Tammi Lindberg.

Kiersten’s interest in research was sparked at a young age by reading scientific magazines with dreams of becoming a doctor. Then life changed during her 8th-grade agricultural education class when her dreams switched to an interest in plant science during Kiersten’s first Agriscience project.

Kiersten’s research included four projects in the plant systems pathway, focusing on buried water storage devices, hydroponics, and active carbon involving carbon nanotubes.

Her research SAE lead her to the State FFA Agriscience event, where she became a state winner and competed in Agriscience at National FFA Convention. Those experiences fostered growth in her research projects and shaped her career plans. Kiersten’s SAE is diversified with a small business of mowing the local baseball diamond, Wold Fields.

Kiersten is a member of the Richland 44 FFA Chapter. Her advisor is Tony Boehm. Kiersten plans to attend North Dakota State University in the fall, majoring in Interior Design and Horticulture with an emphasis in Landscape Design. Boehm’s parents are Tony and Mary Boehm.

In 2016, Ethan’s SAE began in placement by working for Arnold Farms. By 2018, his SAE evolved into a farming entrepreneurship consisting of corn, pinto beans, and wheat on 76 acres of rented land.

Ethan farms alongside his father utilizing a labor/equipment exchange to cover the machinery expenses but uses a loan to cover cash input expenses. He assumes the management roles on his acres by determining seed varieties, seeding dates and rates, fertilizer inputs, scouting, crop protection products and harvest times. Ethan initially purchased the crop inputs from his father, but now buys the inputs and insurance with local businesses.

His SAE has expanded his knowledge with precision agriculture equipment and products. Furthermore, the SAE enhanced his participation and ability in the FFA Agronomy CDE.

Ethan is a member of the Harvey FFA Chapter. His advisors are Ms. JoDee Free and Mr. Daniel Deck. Ethan plans to attend Bismarck State College in the fall, majoring in Agronomy. Arnold’s parents are Phillip and Robin Arnold.

Sponsored by Roger & Jeanette Kenner and Erika & Tyler Kenner Lannoye

Nathan is employed with Friedt’s Yard Service, a family business where Nathan’s SAE has landed him in his sixth season of yard service. His initial duties were mowing, trimming, thatching, aerating, and fertilizing upon direction supervision. Today, Nathan can work independently with his initial responsibilities and much more such as equipment maintenance, hydroseeding, scheduling mowing times, and skid steer operation for landscaping projects and tree removal.

Nathan’s placement SAE enables him to be part of a team that currently maintains over 60 yards in Harvey, five cemeteries, an airport, several farmyards, plus spring and fall cleanup for many more yards.

Nathan credits his SAE in developing his work ethic, mechanical skills, enhancing his communication abilities, and understanding of sound financial decisions.

Nathan is a member of the Harvey FFA Chapter. His advisors are Ms. JoDee Free and Mr. Daniel Deck. Nathan plans to attend Bismarck State College in the fall, majoring in Carpentry. Friedt’s parents are Mark and Dawn Friedt.

Greetings from the ND FFA Foundation. It was great to see the ND State FFA Convention held in person after having a virtual convention in 2020. I’m not sure who was more excited: Our FFA members or the staff and instructors.I always get that same excitement when walking into Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse during state convention. It brings back so many good memories from my time in FFA and attending when my children were members. It is encouraging to see so many members making those memories and gaining leadership skills that will last a lifetime. Congratulations to all who attended and competed in the various events. Find a complete list of results starting on page 10. Good luck to those representing ND at nationals this fall. We also congratulate the new State FFA Officer team for 2021-2022 (meet them on pages 14-15)!The FFA Alumni Auction was a part of state convention this year which included an online bidding option. Thank you to all who helped make this auction a success by donating items and, of course, bidding. The funds from the auction allow the ND FFA Foundation to support the members in the way of grants and scholarships. You can find a fun, little recap of the dollars raised on page 3.As I come to the end of my time on the ND FFA Foundation Board, I want to thank the FFAmily for your support and friendship on our shared mission with the FFA. It has been an honor to serve on the ND FFA Foundation Board, and I encourage anyone interested to check out the website at NDFFAFoundation.com and complete our board-member-interest form. As always, we can never say “thank you” enough to our many sponsors and donors who allow us to provide so many incredible opportunities to our ND members. A huge thank you to all of you for your continued support!Respectfully,

Christina Dockter ND FFA Foundation President
