Kingdom Kids/Breakfast Club News

We are hoping to build on the success

of the recently completed Sunday

Morning Christian Education Program Year, and are

already planning Kingdom Kids and Breakfast Club

for this fall.

South Santiago Sunday School Superintendent Carla

Griffin is making lists and checking them twice. We

will be utilizing ‘Buzz!’ once again and will be looking

for a lead teacher for each classroom – as well as

individuals to be part of the teaching teams.

In other words – Sunday School Teachers aren’t going

to be required to teach every week, but rather as a

part of a teaching rotation. We are also looking to

teach in teams of two, as well. All that being said, it

will require a significant number of people to step up

and teach Jesus to our children.

It’s not rocket science – and it is so very rewarding!

If you’d like more information about this,

contact Pastor Angela or Carla Griffin.

MESSAGE FROM PASTOR DARYL

THESE ARE SOME MEMBERS THAT HAVE HAD THEIR NAMES PLACED ON OUR NEW

ANNIVERSARY DISPLAY IN THE NARTHEX. CONGRATULATIONS ON 50+ YEARS!

Somewhere in our teenage years, summer vacation becomes summer and

the vacation part is reserved for perhaps a week or two. Long gone is the

seemingly less endless string of barefoot days playing pick-up baseball or

fishing down by the shore.

Coming together as a community to celebrate all that God has done and is doing in our lives –

worshipping – is not based on season or status, but rather on our individual and collective place at

the table. God doesn’t take summers off in giving life, breath and hope, and our call is to continue to

receive and to share God’s love all the days.

This isn’t a whiny pastor saying “Where did all the people go?”

It’s a whiny pastor who has wandered at different times of his life from the fold and can tell you

firsthand that it’s not the best way to live. There are some things that I simply need to do because it

makes me better know who I am and who I can be, and regular worship is at or near the top

of the list.

I look forward to sharing the hope of Jesus Christ this summer in the air conditioned comfort of the

sanctuary. We have various activities in the works and I encourage you to participate in them, as

well. It shall be a hoot.

MESSAGE FROM PASTOR ANGELA

Well, the weather may not be cooperating just yet, but summer is officially in full

swing at SSLC. For example, as of May 26th, we are down to one Sunday service,

at 9 AM. However, just because the program year is wrapped up, don’t think we’re

closing up shop for the summer. There is still plenty going on here!

First off, in an effort to keep our youth connected this summer, we will be holding

monthly Wednesday night worship services geared toward our confirmation students and high schoolers. The first

of those is coming up on June 12 at 7 PM.

In addition, we’ll be doing a few youth service days throughout the summer. We’ll serve somewhere in the

morning, have lunch together, then spend the afternoon doing a fun activity. On Monday, June 17, we’ll be

travelling to Coon Rapids to serve at Feed My Starving Children and play at Grand Slam Family Fun Center.

Please sign up on the SSLC website by June 9 under the “Youth Group” tab at “Ministries.”

Speaking of signing up, VBS registration is officially open! Our “ROAR” Vacation Bible School will be held August 4

– 8. Come explore God’s goodness and celebrate our ferocious faith! You can go on our website and look for the

sign up tab.

Finally, we will be holding a few outdoor worship services throughout the summer. Our first will be Sunday, June

23 at 11 AM (rain date: June 30). A BBQ lunch will follow service!

Summer is a busy time for all of us – traveling, yard work, trying to keep the kids entertained… But Hebrews 10:23

-25 reminds us: Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who has promised is

faithful. And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet together,

as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

So let us not give up meeting together. This summer, let’s explore new ways of being community, of finding

fellowship with one another, and of meeting our God in worship and prayer.

Love in Christ,

Pastor Angela

Youth Service/Fun Day: Monday, June 17, 8 AM - 5 PM

All confirmation students and high schoolers are invited to a summer service day! We'll

serve at Feed My Starving Children in Coon Rapids from 9:30 - 11:30am, grab some

lunch, then head to Grand Slam (also in Coon Rapids) for some mini-golf, laser tag, and

other shenanigans. All incoming seventh graders through outgoing seniors are welcome,

as well as any parents who might be able to help Pastor Angela drive/chaperone.

SIGN UP ON OUR WEBSITE UNDER “Ministries-Children/Family-Youth Group”

by Sunday, June 9!

WORSHIP SCHEDULE

Worship Sunday at 9 am (thru Labor Day)

Office Hours Monday - Thursday 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

We are a congregation whose core values seek changed lives

through the power of the Holy Spirit by forming

and sustaining life-long personal faith in God through Christ

Jesus. We practice this by engaging in cross-

generational ministry and radical hospitality as it is

revealed by God’s Word. We do this by connecting with our

congregation, the community and the world.
