Holiday MarketOnly a few spots left! Our Holiday Market is quickly becoming an annual favorite for parents and staff. Vendors will set up in our commons area for the day to promote and sell their product ~

commercial or homemade. This year's event will take place on November 17th, during our classroom Holiday Feasts so traffic is guaranteed.Registration is on a first come first serve basis and we promise not to have more than one commercial vendor per product. If you sign up to sell Mary Kay products and secure your place with your registration fee, you will be the only Mary Kay vendor here. A $50 non-refundable registration fee is required. This secures your place, which includes lunch/beverage and a 10' space with chair. If requested, a 6' table will be provided. Registration forms are available at Coulson Tough or you may email Michelle Lindley at [email protected] Registration fees are non-refundable. You can also sign up online at the following link: Holiday Market

Important Information

To report an absence for your child, please call the front

office at 281-465-5900. When your child returns to school,

a note explaining the reason for the absence should be

sent to the teacher or brought to the front office. School

attendance is a major indicator of student success.

Please schedule vacations during holidays and make

every effort to schedule appointments after school.

Attendance letters will be sent in accordance with CISD

policy. Students must be present 90% of all school days to

be promoted to the next grade. Students should attend

school every day unless ill.

MORNING HOURS

ATTENDANCE

Announcements begin @ 8:00am and school begins at

8:05am. Students should not arrive before 7:35am at which

time they may go to the Commons. Students go to their

classrooms at 7:45am and class activities begin.

TUTORING

If your child is scheduled for morning tutoring or

enrichment, he or she must enter the building through

the front doors.

TARDY/LATE ARRIVAL

Students arriving to school after 8:05am are considered

tardy. Students must stop at the front desk for a tardy

pass. A parent should come into the school with the

student to sign him/her in for the day. A student is

considered absent if they arrive after 9:00am. If your child

is arriving late to school due to a health care

appointment, please come into the front office with your

child and provide the doctor’s note to ensure your child’s

attendance can be changed to “HCP” for “Health Care

Professional” which is Present.

VISITOR PARKING

Birthday treats must be store bought due to allergy, safety

and sanitation concerns. All items must be pre-cut. Most

grades share these treats with the class the last 10 minutes

of their lunch period. Please email your child’s teacher to

verify the best time. Balloons and flowers are not

permitted in the building.

PARENT LUNCH TABLE

We have a table set up specifically for parents and their

children to sit together. Friends are not permitted to sit

with your child at the parent table. A parent plus two

others is the maximum number who can come join a

student for lunch due to space limitations in our cafeteria.

MEDICATION AT SCHOOL

A parent or guardian must bring medication and sign it

into the clinic. All medication must be in the original con-

tainer and properly labeled. TRANSPORTATION CHANGES

All transportation changes must be received in writing with

parent/guardian’s signature to your child’s teacher in their

blue folder. Please limit any other changes after the day

begins to emergencies and contact the front office prior

to 2:00pm.

SEVERE WEATHER DISMISSAL

At the beginning of school, parents completed a Severe

Weather Dismissal Procedures form indicating how their

child would go home in the event of Severe Weather.

During periods of rain, biker/walkers will be released as

normal. When the area is under a severe weather threat

(this includes lightning/thunder) as determined by the

National Weather Service, a “Severe Weather Dismissal”

will be called. Please register for Remind 101. You will be

notified by text when there is a Severe Weather Dismissal.

3rd Annual Race for Awareness 5K & Walk

Saturday, April 21st, 2018

Awareness Nomination Form

Coulson Tough educates our students about a different cause each year. Our first year

we raised awareness about Autism and were able to donate over $12,000 to Families for

Effective Autism Treatment. Last year, our focus was Foster Care and we raised over

$15,000 for the local organization Love Foster’s Hope.

How do we raise awareness? Our 5th & 6th grade student council representatives read

grade-level books about the cause to students to increase awareness and understanding.

They create posters to hang in the school and also share videos and information with

students on our morning announcements. At our Race for Awareness event we have

signs along the route and have our beneficiary organization share additional information

with all of our participants. All who register for our run/walk receive a Race for

Awareness shirt which also helps spread awareness even after the event is over. We

have had over 1,000 people and pets participate each year!

Each fall we take suggestions for a new awareness and we welcome your suggestions for

our focus this year! If you have an idea, please complete the information below and

return it to the front office by Friday, October 20th. Our Race for Awareness committee,

which includes faculty, parents and 5th & 6th grade Student Council, will vote on this year’s

focus. They will then choose which organization to receive the proceeds.
