being rained or snowed on.

3. All ages can do bowl, so al-

most no one can be left out.

4. Meet new people.

5. Helps build muscles in your

dominant arm.

6. Relieves stress and anger built

up throughout the day.

7. Helps hand-eye coordination.

8. You can get a sick looking

bowling ball and shoes.

9. Learn different ways to throw

the ball down the lane.

4 ways to shop smarter!

1. Keep health in perspective:

Although healthier foods are more

expensive, it’s okay to spend a

little extra money for healthier

food!

2. Scan the nutrition panel on

the back or side of the pack-

age. When you're looking for

healthy foods, be on the lookout

for products low in saturated and

trans fats and sodium.

3. Shop for produce strategi-

cally. Stick to in-season fruits and

veggies, which are generally

cheaper.

4. Opt for fewer ingredients. It’s

often healthier to go toward whole

foods, fresh fruits and vegetables,

whole grains, and lean proteins

Beware: Exploding Whales

Beachgoers in

New Zealand have

been warned to

steer clear of exploding whales

after a mass stranding that left

hundreds of whale carcasses rot-

Woman’s cane has

hidden sword

Police in South Carolina be-

lieve an older woman who was 80

had no idea that she had a sword

hidden in her cane.

Canes come in many shapes

and sizes. Some are used by peo-

ple with disabilities as a crutch.

They have also been known to

conceal a knife or sword for defense.

When she tried to get through

airport security she was stopped.

The regional spokesman said that

things like this aren't actually that

unusual. This happened at Myrtle

Beach International Airport.

People are not allowed to

bring anything on board that even

looks like a weapon. If they find

toy guns or stress balls that look

like hand grenades they have the

right to take them away. Reports

state that the elderly woman

“didn’t even have a clue”.

Looking for a vacation spot for this summer? Go to the Black

also see caves, waterfalls, mountains, tunnels, bears, and buffalo in

the park. It’s not too far from Ashby, only about 750 miles.

Scientists create synthetic dart

frog poison

The species Phyllobates ter-

ribilis has one of the strongest

poisons in the world. It is a batra-

chotoxin, colorless or milky se-

cretions from glands located on

the back and behind the ears of

frogs from the genus Phyllobates.

Though the frog does not

produce the toxin itself, it is be-

lieved to be derived from the

insects they eat. The only way for

the toxin to hurt you is if it gets

into your bloodstream.

This toxin also helps them get

their name as hunters would coat

their arrows in the poison. The

toxin attaches to the proteins that

are responsible for electrical im-

pulses in the nerves and muscles,

it can cause impulses, paralysis,

and heart attacks. h t t p : / / www. r e p t i l e s ma g az i ne . co m/

Fishing is one of the most

popular outdoor activities in Min-

nesota, where fishermen work the

state's lakes, rivers and streams.

There are many regulations in the

state. There is a certain number of

fish anglers can keep, restrictions

on the equipment they can use,

and times of the year when fish-

ing is not allowed.

The daily walleye limit is six;

northern pike is three; muskie is

one; smallmouth and largemouth

bass is six; crappie is 10; sunfish

is 20; and perch is 20.

Fishing license prices will be

going up in the state of Minnesota

for anglers now in 2017.

Boston Bruins Fire Coach

It is big news that the Boston

Bruins have fired coach Claude

Julien after almost 10 seasons.

There is absolutely no dispute

that Julien is a very good NHL

coach, one of the best in fact. It’s

also pretty difficult to understand

that much of the decline of the

Bruins is his fault.

The Bruins have become old

and slow and have allowed some

of their best young players to

leave without adequately replac-

ing them.

The largest known land gas-

tropod/snail is the African Giant

Snail. The largest recorded speci-

men of this species measured 15.5

inches from snout to tail when

fully extended. Its shell length

was 10¾ inches and it weighed

exactly 2 pounds.

The most dangerous ant in the

world is the Bulldog Ant found

along the coast in Australia. In

attacks it uses its sting and jaws at

the same time. There have been at

least three human deaths since

1936. Its body length is 0.07 in.,

weight is 0.0005 oz., and its life-

span is 21 days. It was discovered

in 1793.

The Minnesota Wild are 37-

12-6 with 80 points in 57 games

this season.

Mikael Granlund leads the

Wild with 50 points 16 goals and

34 assists. Nino Neiderreiter

leads the Wild with 16 goals.

Deven Dubnyk leads the Wild and

the NHL with 31 wins as of Feb-

ruary 13, 2017.

The Minnesota Wild played

the Anaheim Ducks on February

14. The Ducks are 29-18-10 and

2nd in the Pacific Division.

Dakota Ecker is a 10th grader.

He has been playing basketball

since he was in the 4th grade. His

position on the team is a guard.

His favorite thing about play-

ing for Ashby is you get a lot of

playing time and you get to be

with your friends.

He began playing basketball

because he liked to watch it. He

likes playing Wheaton because it

is a winnable game.

His advice to younger players

is, “Put in 100% of your effort.”

not a very good spy because he

He was hanged on September

22, 1776 by Howe and upon his

Queen

Queen is a British rock band

that formed in London in 1970.

This rock band included four men,

Freddie Mercury, Brian May,

Roger Taylor, and John Deacon.

Queen originally started off as

a hard rock, heavy metal band but

later became more radio friendly.

Brian May and Roger Taylor

were actually in a band called

Smile before Queen.

The band’s album of 1977

News of the World contained We

Are The Champions and We Will

Rock You, which have became

anthems for sporting events.

By the early 1980’s Queen

was one of the biggest stadium

“Ark Survival Evolved” is a

open world survival game that

closely resembles a mix of Mine-

craft and Skyrim. Stranded on

either the island, the center, or

scorched earth the maps each

have their own twist to them with

different biomes.

Scorched earth is based off of

earth after a meteorite hits and

everything is sandy, hot, and dry.

The island is a small map with

all the biomes close together and

easier to survive than the other

maps.

The center is the biggest of all

the maps and is about four times

the size of the island and the most

dangerous in the northern parts of

the map.

This issue I am reviewing

Jimmy John’s. Jimmy John’s is a

groovy sandwich shop that started

in Charleston, IL by a man named

Jimmy John Liautaud in 1983.

By 2002, Jimmy had opened

160 shops all across America. In

2012 Liautaud was awarded the

Nation’s Restaurant News Golden

Chain Award (NRN) for his in-

dustry achievements and out-

standing accomplishments.

Today Jimmy John’s is one of

the fastest growing chains accord-

ing to the NRN Top 100.

A classmate of mine told me

that her favorite part about JJ’s is

their big pickles. My favorite

thing about JJ’s is their freshly

made bread and their fresh cut

meats and veggies. I either get the

number 5 or the slim 1, both are

good sandwiches. Their menu is

online and they cater so if you're

ever craving a good

sandwich hit up

J immy John’s!

There is a Jimmy

dria near WalMart.

1969 Pontiac GTO

Although the first generation

GTO wasn't the first muscle car to

show up in the United States, it

was a trend setter for many later

models. The body style was close

to copied by the big four car com-

panies in the United States and is

still used today.
