Salutations Division 17!
Can you believe it? The service year is ending! There is literally a little over a month left; that’s all the time I have left as your Lt. Governor. Regardless, even though things are winding down, that doesn't mean we stop serving our com-munities and our world! There is still much to be done!
District Convention is coming up! Fall Rally is the largest gathering of Key Clubbers, but DCON is probably the largest district event in general. Celebrating the end of the one service year, and the beginning of a new one. District Executive Officers are elected, and the new District Board is inducted along with all the new club officers. Awards are presented, and workshops are held! Not a single dull day goes by throughout the weekend. The event is a little pricey, but I encourage ALL of you to do your best to attend!
About 1-2 weeks ago was Eliminate Week! Although we missed a day due to inclement weather, that didn’t stop the district from trying to raise money and awareness for the Eliminate Project! I walked around with a T shirt, offering people to sign the back if they donate $1. I did this twice, and all together I was able to raise around $50-60!! This isn’t a place to brag, but rather an invitation to encourage all of you to keep going strong to help mothers combat MNT to save their future babies!
Finally, seniors! College is expensive, but have no fear, for Key Club is here! The organization can help your college tuition bill a bit if you apply for a scholarship and win. The deadline is February 20th!
Check out the 2nd to last page for more reminders! There is still a lot happening! Don’t miss out!
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me!
Yours in caring and service,

District Convention is drawing near! To review, DCON is an event that takes place over the weekend at a four star hotel. Throughout the weekend, workshops, elections, and dances are held in celebration of something like Key Club New Year! The service year doesn’t run like the school year, or the actual year. REGISTRATION: Register by February 13th, 2015 and pay with a $5 deduc-tion per member! So instead of paying $270, you will be paying $265. Regular Registration is due by postmarked March 6th, 2015 .
Fundraisers: bake sales, movie nights, whatever it takes to raise money to subsidize attendees’ costs. District Convention is a bit pricey, but worth every penny! Kiwanis Club: If you have a Kiwanis Club, you can ask them to contribute! Attend their meetings, and politely request for a subsidy; any amount is appreciated. Don’t just go to one of their meetings, request money, and then leave. Try to be a consistent attendee! You will be surprised over how awesome Kiwanians are, and how many more service projects you will be able to perform partnering with them

Check your emails! Weeks ago, I sent out the Decem-ber District Mailing and within it is the Contests packet for DCON. All the available contests and explanations are written inside. Some require an early submission prior to the event, and some take place during the event. Be careful not to confuse the two!

As awesome and efficient flying brooms are, we’re not all so lucky. If your school doesn’t have a bus to lend the club, you will want to rent one. Contact a bus ser-vice AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. If you manage to get a hold of a bus, remind them of it every now and then so that your club will definitely have a method of transpor-tation. If buses are too expensive, ask parents if they would be willing to carpool. This is convenient espe-cially if a parent will be acting as a chaperone

Eliminathon Recap P4
On Sunday February 8th, champions from divisional Eliminathons faced off in the ultimate tournament to determine the true champion and to spike Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus! An invigorating way to end Eliminate Week; the event successfully raised approxi-mately $854!! The games began at around 5pm in the gym of Arthur L. Johnson High School, and halfway through, there was a special game between the Kiwanis Committee and the NJ District Board! It was a close game, but the Kiwanians won and will probably hold it over our heads for quite some time. The winning team was from Division 12, representing Bridgewater Rari-tan, The Hawaiian Shirts! Here’s a picture below:
Block Nation, the winning team from our Divisional Eliminathon, put up an amazing fight! Making it through several rounds, they pushed their way up, but unfortunately could-n’t make the gold. Even though they didn’t win the District Tournament, they won the hearts of mothers, babies, and Key Clubbers by playing to save people from MNT!
Spike out your opponents and MNT!
Block Nation takes the court!

Believe it or not, there are “Key Clubs” for all age groups! The flyers above do an excellent job explaining the different departments, but if you would like a simple version:
Kiwanis: adults
Circle K: collegiate branch
Key Club: high school
Builders Club: middle school
K-Kids: elementary school
Aktion Club: adults with disabilities
If you’re interested in building a branch outside of Key Club, let me know!
