Welcome to the celebration

celebrating the Declaration

of Independence signed on

July 4, 1776, by the Conti-

nental Congress declaring

that the thirteen American

colonies regarded themselves as a new nation, the

United States of America, and no longer part of the

British Empire. Independence Day is celebrated with

fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics,

concerts, baseball games, and family reunions. In ad-

dition to various other public and private events cele-

brating this day in history, Independence Day is the

National Day of the United States. Enjoy the events

but most of all stay safe.

Right in Your Own Backyard

There are so many things to see & do in Florida.

Our featured area to visit this month is:

The Island City of Cedar Key

Cedar Key is not your average Florida destination -

Cedar Key is "old Florida" or "original Florida" or

better yet, "before Disney" Florida. Quaint streets

lined with shops, friendly people, real food, funky

art, and peaceful relaxation. Cedar Key is a clam-

ming, fishing, and artist village with a tourist

trade. The tourist trade is mostly seasonal and

most visitors are looking for a low key sort of va-

cation. The pace is slower than the rest of the

world and if you require the world to operate on a

precise clock - (continued on page 4)

Here is a bit of information... “the Declaration of Inde-pendence and the Founding Fathers of the United States”. For instance, did you know that the legal sep-aration of the Thirteen Colonies from Great Britain ac-tually occurred on July 2, 1776?

John Adams wrote, in a letter to his wife: The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memo-rable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to be-lieve that it will be celebrated by succeeding genera-tions as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solem-nized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more.

So why is Independence Day celebrated on July 4th?

From the outset, Americans celebrated independence

on July 4th, because it was the date shown on the

much-publicized Declaration of Independence rather

than on July 2nd, which was the date the resolution of

independence was approved in a closed session of

Congress.

Another bit of interesting trivia is the fact that most historians think that the Declaration was actually signed on August 2nd, 1776, nearly a month after its adoption and not on July 4th, as is commonly believed.

Finally, did you know that John Adams and Thomas

Jefferson, both of whom had not only signed the Dec-

laration of Independence but went on to serve as Pres-

idents of the United States, died on July 4th, 1826. An-

other Founding Father who became President, James

Monroe, died on July 4, 1831 becoming the third Presi-

dent in a row to die on Independence Day.

A Note from the President

This month I want to discuss the garbage pick up: ADVANCED take over of FDS

FDS Disposal has a contract with WWS from October 1, 2015 through September 30, 2018.

The service fees are as following: October 1, 2015 through September 30, 2016 per month of $16.30= $48.90 per quarter. October 1, 2016 through September 30, 2017 per month of $16.80=$50.40 per quarter. October t, 2017 through September 30, 2018 per month of $17.30= $51.90 per quarter. This base rate is based on 65 residential dwellings.

Collection days: Solid Waste Collection service will be performed on Tuesday of each week. Recycling Collection service will be performed on Friday of each week. Yard Waste Collection service will be performed on the 2nd & 4th Wednesday every month. Bulk Waste Collection service will be performed on an “on call” basis at $25.00 per item.

Holidays: The Company observes the following six (6) Holidays during the calendar year and does not perform waste collection service on these days: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Should a holiday fall on a weekly collection day, collection service will be performed on the next day. Please do not include materials that are flammable, corrosive, caustic, acidic, explosive, bio-hazardous, etc. Items such as gasoline, oil, paints, commercial cleaning chemicals, or other hazard-ous materials that could become explosive or significant sources of fire, or human health risks, are not to be placed curbside for collection. Any type of household hazardous materials should be de-livered by residents to the Citrus County Central Landfill. I know the residents of Walden Woods South, myself included have had problems with the new billing system and pick up service. I have personally been down to their office to discuss the matter with them. They have corrected my monthly billing and have given me credit since I went ahead and paid the bills coming to my house. I am now paid up until Christmas. If any residents are still having trouble with the billing please drop by and lets get this straight. As for the Holidays and pick up dates I believe Advance needs to send out a written notice to each resident if the above schedule is not being met. Advanced will honor our FDS contract with Walden Woods South. Special thanks to Laura Kurutz for choosing the Backwater Fins Island Bar and Grill for Father’s Day. I understand the food was great and everyone had a great time.

As always should you have any problems not only with our garbage service but anything at all please contact me, lets talk it out. Together we can make this community great.

Construction Corner……………………………………….. By John Hickey

As the heat of the summer and the afternoon showers ramp up so does the construction at WWS. We expect 4 homes to arrive during the week of June 6th -11TH and the rest to follow. So that means heavy truck traffic again. We are in the process of finishing up a set of 3 homes and Lakewood concrete will re-turn to S. Sterlingshire to pour H-24 which will be done by the time you read this. One new model never built before will be placed out on the dca A-1 (the racetrack) on the corner. Some new additions to homes are fully tiled showers and fully tiled backsplash in the kitchens. We hope to have everything set and done by the time the snow birds arrive back so we can have a showcase of homes for everyone can view them. We do have a compressor down in ac unit #2 at the clubhouse and it is on order and will be installed as soon as they get it. We ask that you do not park on the lawn by the horse shoe pits on S. Pebbleshire Dr. We are trying to save as much grass as we can and there is parking in front of the clubhouse. Just a reminder, when you hear thunder and your in the pool or spa PLEASE get out. Lightning can travel many miles and strike anywhere so be safe and get out. Again a lot of resident’s are having success with Kendro windows. When you call them at 574-537-8900 you will get a directory. It will say windows or other, hit either one and you will get a customer representative, then ask for Lisa Glassburn. She has been a lot of help to many residents. I have also posted a name and number of a gentleman who will do installs in the

clubhouse. So until next month stay cool be safe and enjoy the summer. John
