We have to focus on this now to achieve the desired results at next year’s inventory. All merchandise has to be accounted for. Even if it is damaged or broken, don’t ever just throw it away. Take it to claims. Remember to teach our new associates how important this is. Please follow our Mislabel Program. If you receive freight where the warehouse label does not match the contents of the box- it is really important to take this label and the UPC number with quantity of the merchandise in the box to the UPC Office. We have a weekly drawing where you can win extra money if you find mislabels and turn them in. Don’t forget to put your name on the label too. As always you are all doing a great job and I really appreciate your dedication to the success of our store. -Ray Korsch, Store Manager ************************** Great Job Buttons Great Job Buttons Great Job Buttons Great Job Buttons The Great Job Button Program is ending! The Ten Foot RuleThe Ten Foot RuleThe Ten Foot RuleThe Ten Foot Rule

One of Wal-Mart’s secrets to successful customer service is our “Ten Foot Rule”, handed down to us by Wal-Mart’s founder, Sam Walton. During Sam’s many store visits, he encouraged associates to take a pledge with him:

“I want you to promise that whenever you come within ten feet of a customer, you will look them in the eye, greet them, and ask them if you can help them.”

Steps to follow:

Step 1: Make Eye Contact. Step 2: Smile and Greet. Step 3: Ask how you can help them.

Inject enthusiasm and energy into the tone of your voice and have a professional attitude. Promote a positive shopping experience for our customers everyday.

-Assistant Manager Jim

************************* I think by now all associates have had an opportunity to hear about the 5 Step Checkout Process. If you have not, I would love to share it with you:

STEP 1: Greet THE Customer STEP 2: Smile STEP 3: Express Credit. Just Ask! STEP 4: Ask for a CMN donation STEP 5: Thank the Customer

We have had tremendous success taking care of our customers, being the best of the best with express credit, and have raised a ton of money for CMN.

As always - Thank You for doing a great job.

The Squiggly NewsletterThe Squiggly NewsletterThe Squiggly NewsletterThe Squiggly Newsletter

I have been getting a lot of positive feedback from a lot of you about this newsletter. I wanted to thank everyone for your support. The main reason for this newsletter is to keep everyone informed about the issues that concern our store and our company. I try to keep it fun with features like Fun Facts and Spot Light Associates, while keeping the more “business” side of this newsletter informative. I have numerous associates that help throughout the week to put this newsletter together:

Assistant Manager Jim: Helps with daytime related stories and contributes articles.

Store Manager Ray: Contributes articles and approves the final draft copy before printing.

Lisa A. (Jewelry): Helps with Spot Light interviews. She also helps with copying and stapling the 150 - 200 newsletters we print.

Assistant Manager Ginger: Contributes jokes and ideas. She also proof reads and error checks the final draft copy- so if you find any mistakes or spelliing errors, it’s her fault…..

Please keep those suggestions and comments coming! Together we can make this newsletter the best it’s ever been.

FUN FOOD FACTS: The white powder on sticks of chewing gum is sweetened marble dust! Beetle Juice actually exists- and you’ve probably eaten it- most “time release” pills and glossy candies are coated with Resinous Glaze, which is made from the secretions of the Lac Beetle! You don’t even want to know what the “all natural” food coloring Carmine Color is made of……

One day, a mailman was greeted by a boy and a dog. The mailman said to the boy, “Does your dog bite?” “No,” replied the boy. Just then, the dog bit the mailman. “Hey,” he yelled. “I thought your dog doesn't bite!” “He doesn't,” replied the boy, “That's not my dog.” **************************

Memorial DayMemorial DayMemorial DayMemorial Day Fading light dims the sight And a star gems the sky, gleaming bright From afar drawing nigh, Falls the night. Day is done, gone the sun From the hills, from the lake, from the sky All is well, safely rest; God is nigh. Then goodnight, peaceful night; Till the light of the dawn shineth bright. God is near, do not fear, Friend, goodnight.

-Major General Daniel Butterfield 1862- Richmond, VA

This verse was written by Major General Daniel Butterfield after he witnessed a large number of Union causalities outside of Richmond, VA. It was later written as the bugle call “TAPS“, which is still played to this day at military funerals, and at the close of each day on military grounds to remember fallen brothers.

A Message to our Veterans I have a very fond respect for our nation’s veterans. It’s because of you that we live in a free country and have all the liberties that so many of us take for granted. I respect our veterans because I can live in this country without fear, and I can raise my daughter in safety. It’s because of our military personnel that we have these liberties- and if it wasn’t for you- my family, and millions of others Americans, would not be able to call this land home. My wife has ancestors that served, and died in the Revolutionary War and the Civil War. To these veterans, from the earliest days of our country, all the way to today- with our troops in Iraq- I wish to say two words: THANK YOU! It’s because of the countless veterans like you that we can continue to make the United States of America the best country in the world. To all the men and women who have served our country- and to those that made the ultimate sacrifice: Today I, along with all Americans, honor you, and thank you. You truly are the real heroes, and we will never forget what you have done for us. Because of the sacrifices you made- millions of Americans can call this land home and live in freedom.

With great respect -Gabor S.
