he Department of Pulmonary Medicine concluded the 2-days’ Indian Chest Society workshop on Basic Bronchoscopy and Thoracoscopy on 19 th October, 2016, where various topics on the art and science of Bronchoscopy and Thoracoscopy (Endoscopy of Lungs and Pleura) were discussed. Dr. D.J Christopher, Dr. Balamugesh T. and Dr. Barney Isaac T.J. performed live demonstrations of Bronchoscopy and Thoracoscopy via video transmission to the venue of the workshop. World Food Day is a day of action against world hunger, and commemorates the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations 71 years ago. The MCI Nodal centre for National Faculty Development, CMC Vellore,conducted the Revised Basic Course Workshop inMedical Education Technologies (RBCW) from 18th to 20th

October, 2016, followed by a Sensitisation Programme for Attitude andCommunication Module (AT-COM) on 21st October.The objective of this programme was to sensitise the participants to theimplementation of the competency-based AT-COM Module as per MCI

Directives. The programme aimed to capacitate medical educators / administrators of the 20 affiliated medicalcolleges of the MCI Nodal centre, CMC Vellore.This programme was awarded 8 CME Credit hours by the Tamil Nadu State Medical Council.Graham Kendrick visits CMC

CMC welcomed back to Vellore, Christian singer-songwriter Graham Kendrick,for a series of events from 20th to 23rd October, 2016. His previous visit was forthe Merge Festival, 2015.

On 20th October, he performed in the open air at the Student Nurses’ Hostel, Collegeof Nursing, to an enthusiastic audience of about 1,400, including student nurses andresidents of the hospital and Kagittapattarai campuses. He rounded off the evening withhis well-known Shine Jesus Shine. On 21st October,he visited Ida Scudder School for morning assembly

and received a spirited response from the children. On the evenings of 21st and 22nd

October, he played to a packed Scudder Auditorium. The choirs Melodious Madcapsand Bel Canto trained by Dr. Barbara Isely joined him on Friday. A professional bandfrom Chennai (Stephen, Amos, Pharez, Vineeth and John Praveen) backed him onSaturday. He played many old favourites as well as some brand new material.

On 23rd October, Graham Kendrick led a retreat themed Stand firm in yourfaith based on Isaiah 7:1-14. That last evening of his visit, he led the CollegeChapel service, speaking on the text “Fan into flame the gift of God, which is inyou,” from 2 Timothy 1:6.

The community benefited immensely from his visit and raised a unanimousrequest for his return next year.
