IITR Architecture Department ranked firstamong all Architecture Colleges by IndiaToday GroupThe Department of Architecture and Planning ranked #1 among all the Architecture colleges in India, according to a survey conducted by India Today Group which imparts high quality education in Architecture and offers facilities like Climatology Lab, Computer Lab and Computerized Design Studios.
Regional Finals of the TATA CrucibleBusiness QuizTwo teams from IIT Roorkee (Utkarsh Bajpai/Renju Kokkatt and Dev Raj/Utkarsh Ruhela) made it to the stage finals of the quiz, with Utkarsh Bajpai and Renju Kokkatt ending up as the winners of the quiz as a result of which they represented IIT Roorkee in the zonal Finals in Delhi.
IITR exploits at NASAThe National Association of Students of Architecture (abbreviated as NASA) is a student organization with over 200 member colleges from India and neighbouriung countries. Funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, DIC of IIT Roorkee was launched to operate as a main institute that would coordinate work with four other institutes - National Institute of Technology Uttarakhand, Indian Institute of Management, Kashipur and GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar for mentoring and supporting innovation and design activities, to address issues specific to the Himalayan region and to cater national priorities.

An IIT Roorkee alumnus Mr. Aditya Nigam, (B.Tech) 2014 batch, has brought a unique experience through his gaming startup for the first time to his alma mater. Called the ‘Triwizard Chess’, it is India’s first chess for three players and is a strategy game that tests the other survival and killer instincts at once in which one player can checkmate on two players at a single time.

IIT Roorkee find new drug target forantibiotic-resistant bacteriaA team of researchers led by Ranjana Pathania from the Department of Biotechnology have identified a protein (Hfq) in Acinetobacter baumannii bacteria that can be used as a potential drug target. The Hfq protein plays an important role in metabolism, drug resistance, stress tolerance and virulence and stabilises the interaction of small RNA with its target MRNA molecules.

IITR student awarded the BIRAC-GYTI
award by the President of IndiaEkdeep Singh Lubana’s project, “A RAW images’ based on a
setup that can calculate nutrient concentration in leaves” was
selected amongst the top 16 projects across 2915 entries from all
over the country. BIRAC and NIF, along with Sristi, recognize
socially valuable projects across the country and award them with
Rs. 15 lacs to support their ventures.
IIT Roorkee Researcher selected for a prestigious
India’s Fellowship ProgramMs. Vedita Anand Singh from Department of Biotechnology, has been selected
for the Science and Engineering Research Board Overseas Visiting Doctoral
Fellowship (OVDF) Program at Purdue University where she will be working on an
application-based research to identify new therapeutics for mosquito-borne viral
diseases such as dengue, chikungunya and Zika.
