    Site descriptionA large extended site shaded by very open Black Box and River Red Gum woodland on short grassed flood plains (very rarely

    flooded). Twenty five tables and fireplaces.. Popular at peak periods. Emus, kangaroos and lizards are common. Parrots,cockatoos, galahs, wrens and robins are also common, especially in spring when wildflowers abound.

    Nearby Lake Brimin is one of a string along Outlet Creek - all normally dry - the end of the Wimmera River. Cyprus-pine woodlandsgrow on the dunes near the lake, merging with mallee then heathlands to the west.

    Can be hot and dry in summer, winter nights can be cold. Bring your own water and firewood - supplies are uncertain.

    Activities Two nature trails through two different environments, each 6k 3hr return, easy. Other walks from3hrs to 3 days. Eastern Lookout nature drive, 15k (gravel).

    Site description Locatedabove the Lake shoreline inopen Black Box woodlandwith no understory, backedby cypress pine, buloke,mallee and heathland.Thousands of trees havebeen planted to saveeroding dunes.

    This camp ground has theadvantage of sealedaccess and a considerabledepth of vegetation but can

    be popular and potentially crowded. Sites are well grassed. 10+ fireplaces and tables dispersed over a considerable area. Birds areprolific. Scarlet cockatoos, black crows, kangaroos and emus are common.

    Lake Albacutya fills about once every 20 years, is currently dry and salt bush is flourishing. Dispersed bush camping is permittedaround the lake but tracks are sandy and may require 4-wheel drive.

    Gums with a thick understory of wattles and wildflowers.The largest freshwater in Victoria it is currently [August 2000] nearly dry and the remaining water contains blue-green algae. Thus

    there are now few water-birds but parrots, white cockatoos and kookaburras abound.Dispersed bush camping is permitted anywhere around the lake although soft sand limits access.

    Just over the entry sand hill there is a graveled track to the left leading to a couple of dispersed sites. Opposite the entry road is agood track following the Outlet Creek (dry) downstream (north) with many sites shaded by open Black Box.

    An extended level site with scattered white trunked Yellow Gum and Black Box providing light shade over short "golf link" grass(kangaroo mown). There are 20 well spaced open sites plus 4 fenced sites in a bushy area well separated with semi-arid shrubs(banksia and Broom-bush) between. Each site has a bench, fireplace and waste bin. Kangaroos, emus, parrots, wrens, honeyeaters,currawongs, stumpy tailed lizards and bearded dragons are all common. Flies and magpies are friendly.

    Firewood is supplied - railway sleepers and fence posts require a log splitter. Water tanks are signposted "not for drinking".Best from late winter to early summer when wildflowers abound. Can be hot and dry over summer.

    Site descriptionA pleasant quiet site in open woodland at the foot of the only protruding hill on a flat landscape. The trees and rolling hills are

    welcome after driving miles over flat farmland.There are two designated, graveled sites (only 1 level) but with free access to the surrounding flats. All are open to the occasiona

    day visitor.The granite soils support White cypress pine (rare), stunted Manna (Ribbony) Gum and Grey and Yellow Box to provide open shade.

    Much of the Park to the north has been largely undisturbed, resulting in a rare example of native grasslands, supporting kangaroos and

    birds. In spring there are masses of wildflowers: yellow native daisies, red and purple Swainson peas, blue-purple blue bells.
