Impressive balance

Voith Drive is the integrated solutionfor an innovative drive that replacesthe traditional arrangement of car-dan shaft, gear unit, coupling andmotor. The motors are simplyslipped on at tender or drive sideand drive the rolls without backlashand without any intermediatemechanical components.The frame-mounted gear unit andall mechanical drive parts, there-fore, become superfluous.

Abundant power

The achieved torques are impres-sive. They are available even at lowrotational speeds and remain virtu-ally constant throughout the speedrange. Because of the low circum-ferential backlash, the motors arecharacterized by maximum controlquality.

Universally applicable

The advantages of Voith Drive areobvious. On all paper and spreaderrolls, in the dryer section, in thecalender as well as in the wind-upsection and the rope drives, thecompact design of Voith Driveallows easy integration into themachine.

Lower operating costs

No oil

Through the omission of all gearwheels costly central oil lubricationis no longer required. The oil con-sumption is thereby considerablyreduced. There are no longer any oil leakages , i.e. oil-contaminatedframing parts belong to the past.This improves the environmentalbalance of your production line.

Bringing up to the right

The motors of Voith Drive arecooled via a closed water cycle with upstream dirt filter and deliverypump. This leads to high powerdensities. Even continuous opera-tion at crawl speeds is made possi-ble without any problems. All pipingis made from stainless steel.

LEIPA-Schwedt PM 4

PM 4 is the most modern LWCpaper machine in the world, with awire width of 8,900 mm and a maxi-mum drive speed of 2,000 m/min.

The latest technology requires aninnovative drive concept: 30 VoithDrives of the most varied capacitiesensure the necessary dynamics onPM 4 and thereby increase the totalefficiency of this demanding system.

Velsen PM 2

Voith received an order from Papier-fabrik Crown van Gelder for therebuild of PM 2 in the shortest timepossible. The goals were:� Higher production speed� Elimination of the defective gear

wheels� Elimination of oil leakages in the

frame-mounted gear units.

With Voith Drive these demands were met on schedule. In addition,the energy costs were significantlycut and noise pollution for the staffwas greatly reduced.

Voith Drive has excellent references. The drive without

additional gear wheels, cardan shafts and couplings is

the drive concept of the future and has proven success-

ful in applications worldwide.
