VOCATIONAL EDUCATION & TRAINING

„Learning is always about personal development as well. In this regard, the BFI OÖ sees itself as a gatekeeper for vo-cational chances on the one hand, and on the other as a partner and companion to the learner.”

Silvia Kunz Executive Directress

„A solid education as well as on-going further education are the basis for personal working life. Being an approachable partner for all people – regardless of age, education or origin – is very important to the BFI OÖ.”

Christoph Jungwirth Executive Director

“Further education is a fitting Answer to the lack of skilled workers. A condition, however, is an increased permeability of the educational system. Achieving this will be one of the main tasks of the BFI OÖ in the future.”

Gerhard Zahrer Authorized Signatory

Metal Working CentersThe Metal Working Centers at BFI Upper Austria were founded on the occasion of the ever increasing skilled worker shortage in the metal industry. The participants of both genders are assigned to the centers by the Austrian Job Center. Currently courses are being offered in the skilled trades of tool and die machinist, tool machinist and metal treatment engineering.

Due to the modular structure of the training, regular entry is possible and thus specialists are regularly qualified.

Currently there are metal working centers in Attnang-Puchheim, Braunau, Gmunden, Gunskirchen and Steyr. Due to the large share of migrants the Metal Working Centers at BFI have developed into a driving force in integ-ration in the region.

Production SchoolsThe production school offers support to young people with a lack of compe-tence in basic education, and social as well as personal matters, before they begin vocational training or further education.

The practical implementation of the production school is geared towards the regional demand, in order to be able to provide relevant high quality support to all young people within the target group.

The BFI Upper Austria currently operates production schools in Gmunden, Mattighofen, Ried and Wels under the name „AusbildungsFit“ (Fit for Training) within the framework of NEBA (network of vocational assistance), an initiative of the Social Ministry. We also head production schools in Kirchdorf, Leonding and Steyr, comissioned by the State of Upper Austria and the AMS Upper Austria.

Making a Professional out of You. Sometimes you need a bit of luck to take advantage of your opportunities. The ABZ training center in Braunau has far higher demands, however. We do not hope for luck, but rather consciously create opportunities for new professional and personal paths.

The ABZ Braunau stands for high-quality specialist training and since 1995 has also been responsible for the apprenticeship training of renowned companies such as AMAG, HAI, Borbet, among others.

The courses in metal and electrical engineering professions help the appren-tices of top regional companies prepare for the final apprenticeship exams in theory and practice. Specialists also receive top-class training, as the Braunau workshops use the most modern machines and systems. All technical equipment, software and materials are state-of-the-art and naturally conform to current industry standards.

This makes it possible to train in a timely and practice-oriented manner. Depending on the operational requirements of the partner companies, the specific focus of further training and the training content are adapted to the entry level of the participants.

Professionals from A to Z

The ABZ Braunau is more than justified in this claim, as the training offer starts with the basics and extends to cover advanced training within six main areas:

• Welding technology

• Mechanical workshops

• Machining

• Electrical engineering

• CNC, CAD / CAM and

• Business modules

School for Professions in Social Care Steyr Accompanying and caring for the elderly or people with impairment is becoming an increasingly important task in our society.

The School for Social Care Professions Steyr (SOB Steyr) has been offering the necessary qualitative training in the Steyr region since its foundation in 1991.

The BFI Upper Austria took over the sponsoring association of SOB Steyr in autumn 2009. In terms of school organization, SOB Steyr is connected to HLW Steyr.

The school offers training as a specialist social worker with a focus on elderly work and work for the disabled, which includes the qualification of nursing assistant.

The training in both areas, work for the elderly and work for the disabled, is aimed both at young people after completing general schooling, as well as at people who opt for care and social work later in life, or people who are looking for further professional qualifications.

Tailored to the labor market, these courses are held daily, running over 24 months. For all those who are looking for a qualification within the field of professional social care, SOB Steyr provides „work for the elderly or disabled“ as an additional special module.

In addition, there is the opportunity to attend job-specific further training on current topics within the areas of work for the elderly and work for the disabled.

We put TOGETHER on top.The strategic business unit work-orientated rehabilitation, with its flagship organisations BBRZ Reha GmbH, BBRZ Austria, Jugend am Werk (Youth at Work) Linz GmbH, BBRZ MED GmbH and Donaupark Health resort in Klosterneuburg providing a diverse range of offers, is dedicated to job retention or the reintegration of people with health-related impairments into working life.

Vocational Rehabilitation – BBRZ Reha GmbHSince 1975, we have been accompanying people who are incapable of carrying out their profession on account of illness or accident on their way back into working life. Our focus always lies on finding individual solutions for our cuistomers diverse range of needs.

Following occupational-medical and occupational-psychological testing, individual rehabilitation measures are worked out in a planning process: inter-disciplinary teams – co-workers from the fields of medicine, psychology, social work, career studies and economy along with certified process managers within vocational rehabilitation – work together with the customers to develop an individual REHA-Plan.

BBRZ offers people with mental illness or related disorders measures which, in addition to the rehabilitation plan, also allow time for the promotion of personal strengths and mental stabilisation (REHA-Combination).

Where the rehab plan includes a qualification for successful integration into the labour market, the BBRZ provides a variety of made-to-measure training courses in all branches of the economy: individual, tailor-made and workplace-specific (REHA-Training). Additional offers for customers during the course of the training – conceived along the lines of adult education methods – include a comprehensive package of health promotion offers: diet, exercise, mental health as well as medical, physiotherapeutic and psychological counselling. Practical application is at the focus of all training courses: for this we cooperate with countless partner organisations across Austria to ensure targeted internships for customers. For integration to be successful, customers receive special coaching on job interviews and social skills.

New Challenges for Vocational Rehabilitation – RehaNEXT

In order for the BBRZ to best meet the upcoming challenges, a process has been initiated to allow for a wide discourse under the “RehaNEXT” initiative. Within the scope of “RehaNEXT”, the BBRZ cooperates with all stakeholders, partners, co-workers and customers in keeping up with the latest trends and developments, and examining how these affect vocational rehabilitation.

Our goal: “The right person in the right job”

Vocational rehabilitation measures are funded by the Arbeitsmarktservice (Employment Service) (AMS), Pensionsversicherungsanstalt (Pensions Insurance Institution) (PV), Allgemeine Unfallversicherungsanstalt (General Accident Insurance Institution) (AUVA) and by several state ministries for social affairs.

BBRZ MEDThe BBRZ MED GmbH is the first health institute in Austria to offer outpatient rehabilitation for people with mental illness. The advantages of this approach lie in the lower inhibition threshold in seeking aid from medical rehabilitation in time, as well as in the integration of therapeutic processes into patient’s actual lives.

The focus lies not only on mental health, but also on promoting patients’ strengths and abilities. This resource oriented approach forms the basis for planning of therapeutic rehabilitation efforts, which are meant to enable a timely return to social and working life.

Alongside therapy, the centres for mental health also provide support and advice with everyday problems as well as with initiating medical or psychothe-rapeutic after treatement or with planning work rehabilitation and finding work: Target group are women and men who display the following symptomatics:
