Called by the Spirit, Embracing the World. "To educate yourself for the feeling of gratitude means to take nothing for granted, but to always seek out and value the kind that will stand behind the action. Nothing that is done for you is a matter of course. Everything originates in a will for the good, which is directed at you. Train yourself never to put off the word or action for the expression of gratitude." - Albert Schweitzer Dear Friends, In a few days we are going to celebrate our National Holiday – Thanksgiving. With gratitude we remember all those who have gone before us and left behind something that we treasure and hold on to. We celebrate with those who journey along, our families and friends and give thanks for another year of blessings. Yes, we remember once a year all the blessings we have received and give thanks but what would it take to live each day with an attitude of gratitude? On November 28 our religious community is going to celebrate a feast day of Blessed Maria Helena Stollenwerk, SSpS, co-foundress of our congregation. Her expression of gratefulness was accepting everything with love and humility. Once she shared, “I am content, utterly and with everything,” though we know that oftentimes she experienced things and events that were not easy to accept. Let us pray for this kind of attitude of being grateful for all and at all times. It usually takes some effort to learn and notice even the smallest thing that fills our heart with beauty and joy. May all of us be inspired and directed towards the good that surrounds us.
