Dependent clause, independent clause. Because Seth tripped him, Nathan fell.

How come? When the subordinating conjunction is separating the clauses in the middle, it signals a transition to a new idea; no comma is needed. When the clauses aren’t separated by a sub. conj., the comma signals the transition.

Context Clues

Similarity – Lou went to the haberdashery to find a new suit.

Contrast – Lou needed to go to the haberdashery, even though he had a closet full of clothes.
