ABSTRAK

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meneliti mengenai penguasaan kosa-kata

mahasiswa semester tiga program Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris IAIN Palangka

Raya.Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain

penelitian deskriptif. Populasi penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa semester tiga

Program Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris di Institut Agama Islam Negeri Palangka

Raya.

Jumlah mahasiswa semester tiga adalah 61 mahasiswa, yang terdiri dari 3

kelas meliputi kelas A yang berjumlah 23 mahasiswa, kelas B berjumlah 20

mahasiswa dan kelas C berjumlah 18 mahasiswa. Sample tersebut ditentukan

berdasarkan tujuan tertentu.

Jumlah keseluruhan mahasiswa semester tiga adalah 61, yang terdiri dari 3

kelas yakni kelas A yang berjumlah 23 mahasiswa, kelas B yang berjumlah 20

mahasiswa, dan kelas C yang berjumlah 18 mahasiswa. Hasil analisa data

menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata penguasaan kosa-kata mahasiswa adalah 62.39 dan

standar deviasi 63.53. Penulis mendapatkan 2 kriteria dari item soal yakni sedang

dan mudah dengan menggunakan index kesusahan. Data interpretasi menyatakan

bahwasanya level penguasaan kosa-kata mahasiswa adalah sedang dan nilai rata-

rata mahasiswa adalah 61.72. Dengan hal demikian berarti level penguasaan kosa-

kata mahasiswa adalah berada dalam tingkatan sedang. Yang dibuktikan dari hasil

test instrumen mahasiswa.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was investigate about the Vocabulary Mastery of

the Third Semester Students of English Education Study Program of IAIN

Palangka Raya.

It was descriptive approach with quantitative type. The population of the

study were the third semester of the English education study program of State

Islamic Institute of Palangka Raya.

The total number of the third semester students were 61, which consisted

of 3 classes such as A class were 23 students, B class were 20 students, and C

class were 18 students. The result of data analysis showed that the mean of the

students’ vocabulary mastery was 62.39 and the deviation standard 63.53. The

writer got two criteria of items such as fair and easy by using index of difficulties.

The data interpretation stated that the level students’ vocabulary mastery was fair

and the average score of the students were 61.72. It means that the level of

students’ vocabulary mastery was fair. It is proved with the result of the

instrument test of students.

CURRICULUM VITAE

Muhammad Novika Pajri was born on

October 22th, 1991 in Palangka Raya. he is

the first children of Tugino and Istikanah.

He has Brother namely Ahmad Zein

Nouval. He was educated at State Islamic

Elementary School in his town from 1998 and graduated in 2003.

Then, he attended State Islamic Boarding School of Junior High

School of MTsN 1 Model Palangka Raya from 2003 to 2006.

Afterward, he continued sudy in Islamic Senior high school in MAN

Model Palangka Raya from 2006 until 2009. And now for the

buffeting for way of my future with learn in State Islamic Instituteof

Palangka Raya in Study Program of English Education in 2009. The

title of thesis is Vocabulary Mastery of Third Semester Students of

English Education Study Program of IAIN Palangka Raya . He

ended his study at the thirteen semester in 2015.
