    Vocabulary Activities

    Directions: For each vocabulary word, write the word, the definition and then complete 3

    activities from the options below. That means that you should complete 3 activities for

    EACH word! Make sure that you label each section: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3.

    Write what each word

    reminds you of. What does the word or

    definition make you think of?

    Write a synonym AND

    antonym for each word.

    Draw a picture or symbol

    representing each word.

    Write the sentence from the

    text that each word appears

    in.

    Give an example AND non-

    example for each word.

    Compose an acrostic poem

    for each word, incorporating

    the meaning/definition of

    the word.

    Create your OWN sentence

    for each word.

    Write a clue for

    remembering the definition

    of each word.

    Make up as many associations

    and connections as possible.

    Relate the word to words you

    already know.

    For example: You could make a sequence:

    small, medium, large, very large,

    GARGANTUAN.

    List as many things as you

    can that could be considered

    GARGANTUAN: Godzilla, the

    circus fat lady, the zit on your

    nose, etc.
